russell21, It is made the same way they make camera housings for diving that can go down to 100+ ft. I am sure it could handle a crash

intotheflats, I hope so, it would suck to lose a $200 mp3 player. Too much air in the case would cause "pockets" and create problems pressing fucntionality buttons. I would still include some kind of float or serious drawstring to it!

Also, what happens when you land sideways off an invert and bail into the water ear first? Those headphones aren't their to soften the fall!

The case is really designed for aquatics, like swimming and water aerobics!

Let us know how it works!

I'd have to be GUARENTEED it works before I spend 150 bucks on it, and trust the life of my 300 dollar Ipod in its hands. I also noticed Ricky G using it, and I saw the add in the back of wbm for it.

I was reading more and I guess they recommend using a arm or waist belt with it. I really doubt it floats but who knows.

Somebody just needs to try it out and let us know!

nobody online states that it floats, all they do is "Recommended use with Armband or Waistbelt, sold seperately"

If it was larger and not form fitting, then it may float like those waterproof tubes that you can throw around your neck. But this thing is hard form fitting plastic. It would have to displace enough water with its given weight. I know Ipods don't weigh much but I wouldn't trust it to float. Plus, having a little colorful float would make it easier to find if it did fall off!

Nothing like looking for a clear/silver shiny object off the reflective water on a killer 95 degree day!

I wonder if anyone told them that sound doesn't travel well through water! So much for swimming laps while listening to music.. Rolling Eyes

In a pocket in the vest wouldn't be too bad! That would provide some protection against falling on it and would probably secure it enough!

But what is the real purpose? With the money you invenst into an Ipod and this waterproof case, you could get a decent setup for your tower!

I'd still be a litty worried about landing on the side of my head with headphones on! Especially ones that wrap around your ear.

Yeah, but you can't take those tower speakers with you everywhere you go. Most likely the Ipod has already be purchased. Besides $450 may get you tower speakers, but you still need an amp and wiring.

jryoung, Somewhat agreeable.

You don't have to buy top of the line cans or speakers! I've priced some things out and I could get 2 cans, speakers, amp, and wiring for $450! You just have to do some research. Those homemade cans in the DIY thread are sweet, that guy will sell them for $80! You can get an amp for about $150, and wire, well goto a hardware/electronics store and buy your own instead of a kit! Now you just need speakers, those can be had for $150 or less per pair!

If you go to their websigh h2oaudio.com they have cases for Iriver players for $99.
It looks like on ebay you can get a 256mb iriver that is for this case for around $60. I know you cant find "good" tower speakers for $160.00.

My buddy has a $600 sub system in his car, $300 Audiobahn Sub, $250 3,000 watt true output amp (bench tested), and about $50 in wire/box materials. He built/sealed his own box.

He puts out 141db ! If he were in the local competition, he would have placed 2nd without about a 100 car entry!

Its not always "you get what you pay for" but rather "get what you research"

Mobile Audio equipment has no restrictions, so big companies put out what they call high watt amps that really aren't and then you get new/no name companies trying to enter the market and actually put out what the amp says!

CAR = ENCLOSED space......
BOAT = OPEN space + 20-26mph!!!

Big difference in sound QUALITY Laughing

You can get "sound" for 450 no problem.....will you be able to hear it 70ft behind the boat CLEAR??? No!

I do agree if your talking average joe too! Most people don't understand audio and buy what the seller recommends

But, my statement has very little to do with enclosed space, it has to do with what you buy!

Clear = decent speakers + good cans + good amp

good cans < $100
decent speakers < $200
good amp < $150

swilly, there is no such thing as a $250 3000 watt amp. I'd give it 300 watts at most; and that would still make it pretty loud. You get what you pay for and it usually works out to about a little over a dollar/watt.

matt1808, why would you pay $199 for something that holds 30 songs??you can buy and iopd 20G for 50 dollars more and it holds 5,000 songs...(unless you were joking about getting one of those goggle things)

thane_dogg, I have a 3,000 watt amp, that bench tested at just under 3,000 and I paid $250 retail for it!

$1 a watt is what Car Toys will tell you...

wouldnt this casing break on hard impact.... as <intotheflats> said "It is made the same way they make camera housings for diving that can go down to 100+ ft". It is probably not as thick. so it might just shatter.
