are you talking about jump ski, as in using them big ass ski's and jumping the big ass ramp? If so, no I havent, but it looks fun. I would imagine you'd bust real hard if you goofed up. _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

Yes, I jumped in college. It's a blast but you about crap your wetsuit going over the ramp your first time. It looks like a giant red wall.
When learning, the crashes aren't that bad, you're going about 28 mph (6 ft) ramp, on whats called a "ride over" - no cuts into the ramp. Once you start cutting, you're hitting the ramp between 40-70 MPH (boat goes 34).
Pro jumpers jump between 200 & 240 ft, with heights off the water ranging between 20-35 ft (estimated - you're not scored on the height).
A very cool website to check out is www.skifly.com. Site is run by a pro jumper/ski flyer. Look at the "Crashes" link on the homepage.
Here's 2 pretty cool crashes.

It is my favorite of the three events. I worked at Bennets Waterski school for a few summers and they have some great jumpers. Jumping is bad to the bone. I don't do it, but I respect it. A pro jumper can pretty much expect a hospital stay every few years. _________________ "Captain of Her Heart"

im from wisconsin and around here skiing is the thing to do. Our lake hosts the state tourny and we have like 4 jumps on our lake year round. we always go to watch it (tourny) from across the lake. like all my dads friends were in the tommy bartlett waterski show in europe. tommy bartlett is in the dells and ive been to that show like 50 times. if u never heard of him u should check out his site. there is a little bit of wakeboarding at the beginning but the rest of the hour is all of these crazy tricks. my mom used to jump ski too.
but no ive never tried it. barefooting is really popular here to. |

One of my best buddies is a "3-eventer" (slalom, trick, and jump), he's pretty damn good. Jumps in the 200's and went pro last year or the year before. It's amazing to see him do ne thing on the water...wakeboard, kneeboard, trick ski, slalom, jump, hell even a piece of plywood. however, wakeskating and jump are his "passion". He'll get close to tower height on a wakeskate, but he's also only 5'4 like a lotta pros. _________________ OPINIONS ARE LIKE RAP CAREERS EVERBODYS GOT ONE |

| Im a show skier, mainly wakeboarder, but I do everything including jumping. Not too much distance though, usually heli's, front flips and gainers aka back flip. jumping is something I learned to respect as a water skier/wakeboarder because it can be very dangerous and its definatl;y not as easy as it looks. |
