There are tons of quality brands out there. It would be more benificial if you told us what you mainly ride (groomers, pow, BC, park) and what stiffness you like.
For example, I ride Rossignol Scratch BC's. They are twin tipped for the park rat in me, but wide and soft for when I venture into the BC. But they also have a steep sidewall, so they hold their own on groomers.
Moguls are a different story though... I stay away from those.
But as far as certain companies delaming or anything.. I havn't seen any specific problems. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/damoncall/

As with wakeboards there isn't a "best" brand. The Hyperlite/LF for skis would probably be K2, Salomon and Rossignol. But there are many diff brands out there that are prob better, these are just the big names which are really expensive. If you are looking for a ski to take to the park (sweet jumps) I would recommend LINE (they only make twin tip skis). Overall these skis have a really nice flex and shape to them and they make some good all mountain models. They are one of the cheaper skis out there, but remember it's the skier that makes the ski, so save some money!! _________________ "I know violence isn't the answer, I got it wrong on purpose." |

RIDElakeMcQUEENY, Tanner rides his own brand, Armada.
What type of skiing are you looking to do? Park? Pipe? Freeride? Groomer?
This will make all the difference in what is right for you. _________________

I like Salomon X-Scream and Rossignol Bandit XX. On occasion I'll pull out my Authier race skis. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

RIDElakeMcQUEENY, the AR5 is a good all around ski. Twin tips for the park, plenty of ability for freeriding.
Line used to make the "Maverick" that was decent for all mountain as well. If they still call it that, it is a decent stick for the $$$ FWIU. _________________

Good call Chavez! I am riding on the 2003 mavericks and they can do it all, great skis!! They don't make them anymore but I would look at the new chronic model for something similar. _________________ "I know violence isn't the answer, I got it wrong on purpose." |

All mountain twins for you to check out if you want to slice and dice it all (In no particular order)
Armada Ar5's
K2 Public Enemy
Dynastar Troublemaker
Line Chronic
Then there are some for bigger mountain / but still hold their own in the park,
Rossi Scratch BC's
Armada ARV
Line Chronic Wide
And for even Bigger mountain / never see Pipe, but up for BC booters:
K2 Seth Vicious
Armada JP vs Julien
Line Prophet
I know there's others out there...but there's a ton in that list to get you going... |

I dunno bout the new BC's in the park... those things are huge this year.
Maybe the sprayers..
No solomon? Doesn't matter, I don't like the feeling of the pocket rockets and 1080's
I'm concidering some new BC's (w/ the 98mm waist) and using my old style BC's (with 89mm I think) as crappy park/jib skis... my bc's bases' are so thin they are about to take a core shot the first day out I'm afraid. |

RIDElakeMcQUEENY, I agee with Damon. You cannot judge a book by its cover when it comes to boots. You MUST go to a shop, and wear them for a minimum 30 minutes to get a feel for them.
AND EVEN THAT DOESN'T GIVE A COMPLETELY ACCURATE FEEL
My suggestion: look for something that fits your riding style: stiffness, forward lean, overall adjustability of canting and camber, and entry-exit.
For this reason I went with the Tecnica Rival line with Hotform liners. Supreme adjustability, ability to re-fit liner at any time (at a shop), unbelievable ease of entry, overall comfort, and of course, sweet performance.
If you search, you can find Tecnica's 04 line CHEAP!
www.cupolosports.com
I have also found them at Sports Authority/SportMart for great prices. Just don't expect much help at those stores. _________________
