I found a boss tower for cheap... the mouting feet (84 inches apart) are a few inches wider(resting position) than my boat. My question is can I mount the tower still by flexing it a little to fit the dimensions of my boat? Thanks

| if you can't flex it yourself, you should be able to take it to a machine/weld shop and have it done.....you could screw up the finish though.... |

what is the measurement for your boat? If you are within an inch or two, you will be able to pull it in....we've done it a thousand times here at the shop. The only problem is, if you want to take the tower off of the boat you will have a bitch of a time putting it back on.....basically you will have to pull the legs together every time you do that. If you are over an inch or two, I would'nt even mess with it...it definately wont work....you would have to get a new top section made to change the beam width of the tower.
Hope this helps???? |

Really Kyle???? I would think that it would be a bad thing to have that constant outward/inward force on the boat. If there is a descrete place to to it, I would take the bender to it!

Anythings possible but it seems like a project you wont really know how it's going to work out until you try. It certainly would not be supported by anyone so you'll be on your own if anything ever happens. Seems realistic if it's only a few inches but without details about the surface your mounting to and what the bases look like it hard to tell.

Jedsterr, the mounting feet on a Boss tower allow the tower to be pulled in a bit without cusing the stress you are talking about. Our installers as well as thiers have done that for plenty of boats that we have ordered towers for. Sometimes the tower gets delivered, and it comes out to be a bit too wide for the boat....tie a rope around the legs side to side and pull it in a bit to fit the boat. No big deal. The feet on that tower have quite a bit of movement side to side and front to back, so you can really tweak the way the tower should be mounted. I would'nt neccesarily say that you could pull that off with all towers, but the Boss towers will do it to an extent.
On the other hand, I agree with what Monster Tower said..."Seems realistic if it's only a few inches...." It will work if it's only a little off, but if it's way off....I would'nt touch it with a 10 ft. pole! |

| I'm not sure how the boss tower mounts but I would think it would be simple to have some basic spacers machined so that it fits your boat if its too wide. If its only and inch or two this wouldn't affect the integrity of the tower at all and wouldn't put too much extra stress on the mounts. |
