Been riding on cable tow ( Nottingham ) since september, spent first few sessions on a knee board getting used to edgeing etc, got myself a O'Brien Absence 141, 1 session on it doing sitting dock starts i spent most of my time in the water, second session managed to get up and down to the first turn and fell off. I've been trying for the past 3 weekends to get round the turns but on the few times i've managed to get past the bouys i end up losing it on a HS edge. I do struggle getting a TS edge to get out wide enough for some reason. I need some some advise PLEASE, i off to Sheffield this weekend as Nottingham has now shut until 10th April 2006. _________________ Try anything once, twice if i like it. |

hey man, iv recently been to sheffield for the first time, its amazing. When you go there ask for Andy; he runs the show and is soo helpfull. Maybe try and let go with your back hand and really put pressure on your toes. Just ask him when you get there and he'll tell you all you need to know.
This is what he told me (as i had never ridden cable before):
As your coming up to the first corner really edge out and just as you have gone through the orange buoys, switch the pressure to your heels(regular) or toes(goofy) and carry on to the second.
do the same for the second.
after the second corner, its a long straight.
the third was the worst for me as it is at quite a sharp angle but do the same as the 1st...really edge then transfer.
hope this helps
btw its a long walk back from the 1st corner if you fall lol

Went to Sheffield twice in September when i first started on a knee board, 1st time all day my arms hurt like hell for a week afterwards spent the first 2 hours walking back. I've just got to get the confidence of TS edgeing. Heard that Chris Carmichael is the man to speak to up at Sheffield. _________________ Try anything once, twice if i like it. |
