Okay, soo we're having some trouble finding some PVC. Dad and I were going to use some thick-walled PVC with 2 couplings on the outside and an end cap to close it off. The problem is, we can't find the thick-walled stuff.

Does anyone have a better method of how to do this? I'm going to start on the enclosures probably on thursday, when the speakers come in.

Also, the speakers are Kicker KS Series if that helps... I'm not quite sure of the model though.

Thanks so much...

Hey QNev,

Home Depot or Lowes will have Schedule 40 PVC, also a plumbing supply house will defintiely have it - you'll have to buy a 10' length of 6" pipe tho...maybe divide it up with some freinds.

There was a place online to buy the end fittings, try google searching PVC of something like that.

Good luck

Wes

Try www.mcmaster.com. They have everything PVC that you can think of.

wesgardner, We have a home depot, but they don't carry any in a 6" diameter. We also don't have a Lowes. Dad found a place that should carry sched. 40 pvc., but they're only open from 8:00-5:00, so it'll be hard to get anything from there. As far as layout goes, this was his idea... I need to know if this would be correct...

Hey QNev,

Truth be told, I'm not sure our HD has 6" either, but the Lowe's does...plumbing supply houses will, as you've found out, only be open during "trade" or business hours, alot of them don't have show rooms or any of that, try the phone book?

I've not actually made any cans but there are/were a couple of pretty good threads here showing how to mount the speakers in the pvc...you might have to make some sort of inner wood? mounting ring such that the speaker can screw to it after the can has been fully assembled/finished/painted. Maybe check on Bill's (of Monster Tower fame) diytower.com website?

I assume you've seen this :
http://www.bierbower.net/diytower/Dans%20Speaker%20Cans.htm

I think your design looks fine as long as you've worked thru how to mount the speaker in the can, also mounting bracket for tower? and terminals for the wiring?

I'll be going thru this next year after my tower becomes a reality...

Good luck, just be persistant, I'm sure you'll stumble on a pvc source.

Wes

Yeah... Drilling into PVC, screwing the speaker in, and for mounting it we're going to use some 1 3/4" U-Bolts

PVC Cans are what I am building, but saw those and thought I would ask. I am not a fan of Bazooka, but a mount SHOULD be a mount.

QNev, do a search for PVC and narrow your results down to buergday

He has a really nice set of DIY tower speakers made from PVC.

Chopper, Yea that's about the thickness of our tower... But we're trying to cheap it out and so we're just using some rubber and U-Hooks Razz
