These are our sliders, there are none in the area so we have never even tried riding one, so we built a flat bar and a floating half rainbow; both almost ready to hit water. The half rainbow is mounted on top of an old and heavy but buoyant shrimp trawlers life raft i got from a shipyard and will also tie up a 30 gal. drum under the tail to keep it leveled. It should work right? right?? about the flatbar, the top is ready but the problem is that the bottom is very soft, so we cant use posts to make it permanent.. I was thinking we could sink large drums and place them in a vertical position close to the surface and place the flat bar on top or should we just go with another floater? Would it be stable? All comments welcome, thx. |

It' very cool that you are building stuff on your own with no guideance. Were there supposed to be pics with you post? I think 55 gallon drums filled with sand and placed on end would be fairly stable. But what do I know. Good luck. _________________ I hate my job

I don't suppose that's your Colgate 26 in the background of the first pic? FUN boat, great for teaching.
That slider looks awesome but I don't know much of anything about stability so I wont even bother giving advice...

Ballywho, a friend owns that sailboat.. im not sure what kind it is but he did tell me it was very easy to learn how to sail with it.
Do you think i should fill the space between the pvc's? polyurethane foam maybe? |

We finally finished the slider, and used it for the first time yesterday.. That 30 year old life raft flotated great, we also added (2) 15 Gal. drums for the tail to make it more stable. Its a lot of fun to hit this slider, but the next one i make will be definitely longer. |

Thx guys.. LF Rider, when it comes to sliders were all begginers down here so when we started building this thing we thought it should be an easy slider to hit, and the 7" sliding surface that the pvc tubes give is just perfect for slider begginers. We have a flat bar and a kicker in the works, ill post the pics pretty soon. |

Just finished it today, cant wait till saturday!! Used fiberglass/resin to secure the drums wich will be filled with as much water as it needs to make the pvc's sit just above water, also the weight should make it stable and solid when sliding on it. guess ill find out in 2 days |

nice work. I very curious if that will be enough to make it stable enough to slide on. I am guessing no, that you would still sink it, or it would move side to side.

IT WORKS!!! We filled the drums to about 60% of their capacity to make the pvc's sit just above water, we added a little more water on one end of the slider so theres almost no need to ollie, a mini bunny hop is enough to get on. Will post pics later today.. Hopefully we will finish the launch by next week. |

Our kicker/launch or whatever is almost ready, what alternatives are there to pvc sheets or tubes and or trex?? (no trex in Mexico) I thought about formica but i think it will just chip from the wakeboard impacts so i wonder if laying a thick coat of parafinated resin on top of the wood could work as a sliding surface. I coated a 2 x 4 and feels super slick. Anyone think this could work?? or has anyone tried this before? All help and comments welcome, thx. |
