hey i am new to wakeboarding, this summer i had a teacher with me for about eight hours over two days. Now i have all my own wakeboard gear and a boat so i just want to review to see if i have all the basics down. Tell me if i have something wrong.

1- Relax in water with knees bet to chest and toes pointed toward the boat in front of you, (i have my right foot in back) then when the boat picks up speed pull the rope to the side of your front foot so you may pull yourself up. After you are up keep your legs bent just a little and keep them relaxed.

2- After you are up on your board get edge by putting weight on your heels if you are on heel side, or weight on your toes if you are on toe side. Then once you are ready to ollie( only thing i know how to do so far) bend your knees more and when you hit get to the wake pull back on the rope to get rid of the slack and jump on your back foot, then to land use your knees like shocks on a car to correctly land on the other side of the wake.

You do not neccesarily need to point your toes at the boat. If you go too far with it, you will slide out and fall on your butt.
You also do not need to pull yourself up. let the boat do the work, you just need to keep your arms relaxed and extended, and hold on with a tight grip.

It sounds like what you are trying is a wake jump. an ollie in wakeboarding is just like on a skateboard, you jump without a ramp.
Do not pull on the rope when you get to the wake. If you are approaching the wake correctly, there will be no slack in the rope.

If you want to try a wake jump, start small and work your way up.
cut out away from the wake, flatten out and relax for a couple of seconds.
look back towards the wake, rock back on your heelside edge and slowly approach the wake, increaseing your speed as you go. when you get to the wake, stand tall with both legs, and you will pop right up off the top of the wake.
Start slow and work your way up. It takes alot less speed than you would think if you edge all the way up the wake properly.
