ok so i went out yesterday and tried a couple backrolls! I have the same problems with ts backroll as i do with the tantrum! Somehow when i do i backflip i end up going to revert??/ I can do straight backflips anywhere but when i take it to the water i do a backflip to revert which is fine but i wanna do some straight flips??? Could this be because of uneven weight distibution of my feet or something. Also on some attempt on tannys and backrolls i throw my head back but the board doesnt want to follow casuin i painful smack on my back??? Any help
Hello, on the general you go where your head goes, causing you to go to revert. toeside backroll and tantrum are really affected in this way. For example if you are doing a straight backflip on a trampoline you go up and put your head straight back till you see your landing. if you turn your head during the rotation you will start to twist. You need to do the same on water. As your pop off the wake rise with your chest and head and eyes UP till you see the water.
Try the toeside backroll on one wake its the easiest flip to initiate. If regular get the boat to do a right hand turn, if goofy a left hand turn.
Approach the wake from only a few feet. 10 max as you hit the wake putr pressure on your lead foot and thrust your pelvis up and through the top of the wake. try to do a backflip basically and land the spot you took off from. little tricky to land but it does not hurt. Been teaching young kids to do this trick to get the feel of inverts without the forward momentum that flips your eyelids up.
I will try post a vid somewhere, this site dont accept wmv. will work something out.
