Just question before i get some fat sacs installed.
Will the fat sacs burn up my motor more quickly?
Any risk, as far as damage to the boat , that they could cause?

Thanks Rick

No and No. The whole "loaded boat burns engine" thing is a myth. Physics tell you it's not true. The prop will create the same amount of thrust, it's just a matter of how much the boat moves with that thrust.

Unless the completely burst and fill your bilge with water after which you sink (which I've never heard of) they can't really damage your boat. There's nothing hard to make impacts so I think you're pretty safe.

Well there is some truth to it. The more weight in the boat, the more the engine has to work to get the boat moving. Why do you think weighted boats use more gas?

Using your logic, its like saying semi's dont have any strain when they are pulling cargo.

They help somewhat in every boat but that is also something that is specific to every different boat. You have to figure out your best setup for your specific ride. Yes it is true you put a little more wear on the engine because it usually is working harder for longer periods of time.

A motor in a boat is working hardest while under load, which is when you are trying to plane. The heavier your boat the harder your motor is working to plane. Hook up a vaccumm guage and view the results for yourself.

Yes your prop creates the same amount of thrust but you have to go harder on the throttle to create that thrust while loaded....over time your loaded motor while get tired much sooner than a motor working in a less stressful environment.

I wonder how those Epic boats will do with 3,200 lbs of stock ballast alone. Confused

Not good. It would struggle to get on plane with just 300 horses.

GooseR, Missing a few oil changes will hurt your engine a lot more than adding a few sacks. My recommendation sack out your boat until you like the wake and perform scheduled maintnance to your engine and tranny and you should be good.
