|
|
I want to make my tower look great for the summer. It's aluminum and I heard that if you use a very fine grit sandpaper, and sand it for a long time, you can get a very shiny and new finished look. Has anybody done this before and what grit and kind of sandpaper do i get. I also have a can of "Mothers" polish to slap on after I sand it, but it wont help with some of the imperfections, so I need suggestions. Thanks _________________ If it doesn't fit, put some lube on it!!! |

My suggestion: POWER. Get yourself a high speed rotary polisher and some buffing compound. Use a dremel or something for the corners. _________________ We are wakeboarders and our culture is advanced beyond all that you can possibly comprehend with one hundred percent of your brain. |

| I just polished mine with Flitz and it looks awesome... I'm not sure what to do if you have pitting and such already there though. |

Save your time and go buy a Calabria! If you want to look good buy one because everyone will be staring at you. I am sure that a lot of people look at you now but that is because they have mistaken you with three other people that have a boat that looks just like yours. _________________ Calabria Boats Rule! |

I like MC but I prefer Calabria. Obviously any $50K boat is going to be nice. _________________ Calabria Boats Rule! |

I just spent about 3 hours polishing some stainless steel for a new tower to go on a friends MC-- my arms feel great. We used emory cloth and really brought out a fresh finish, then just used steel polish and a real good buffer to clean it and shine it. It doesn't take much, you gotta hit the dark spots a little harder but it will all lift up. We only used the emory cloth to dig down and buff out a fresh finish since the piping is new.
I will post pics of this bad boy when we get more progress, its looking so mean right now.
...and CalAir- quit being funny |

calair03,
Man, you need to stop. It's getting old. Now I have to read you arguing with about 50 people before I can find answers to my question that I posted. Why dont you start a post that is titled "Anybody that want's to talk crap with calair03 click here." Go find something beter to do instead of bash on one of the best boat manufactures in the world. Nobody cares what you think. _________________ If it doesn't fit, put some lube on it!!! |

One note is if you tower is Anodized using sandpaper will remove that protective coating then you'll have to regularly polish it to keep it looking good. Stop by a West or E&B or other Marine store and there are many different alumimum poslishes. I've used Flitz also and it does a good job. _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers
