When I go to "ollie" my snowboard, it seems like I'm leaping. Are you supposed to feel some flex or snappiness off the tail of the board? Maybe I'm getting it and just not feeling it. _________________

when I ollie, I feel the flex / pop of the board. I push down with my rear foot first and then jump....just like a skateboard.
I know the leaping feeling, and I personally hate it. It just doesn't feel like what a snowboard should.
Just focus more on jumping off your back foot instead of both feet, and it will start to feel less 'leapy' |

Yeah, sort of like skateboarding. Never jump from the middle, because you can throw yourself off balance in the air. It really sort of has the same feeling as an ollie on a wakeboard, but on the wb there's no flex, just the water...but still _________________

The best thing to do is to strap on your board at home (on carpet) and practice. Use the spring from the tail to pop, not your legs. The former is an ollie, the latter is jumping in place.
BTW, once you get the hang of it, try to ollie onto an obstacle around your house. I had blast one night olling on/off of a huge piece of form.

JohnD, I did that yesterday. Had a good time olling on to my little slider. Then a friend and I set it at an angle off of my deck, and did boardslides, etc. It was great! _________________
