| Hmmm well it took three tries in one run to be able to stand up. I kept going out the front, then the back, then had the problem of which foot first. Finally the next weekend we went out and I face planted on the first go and then tried again and was finally able to stand up and ride. HAHA that was only last August so woohoo still learning but I can ride some switch, started to learn how to Olie, learning to jump wakes and working on my edging. |

the first day I went out, I just learned how to get up (did that on my first try although it didn't last very long) and cross in and out of the wake. That was this past August, and now I can jump W2W consistently, ollie (although not as high as I would like), do some slides and surface 180's... I'm getting to be ok at riding switch, too... but still working on it. _________________ Find your wings...

| I could get up and ride around. But I was about 10 years old and so I wouldn't expect much more. |

| Well....lets see. I'm going to be honest! After a year, thats right ladies i said a year, of trying to get up i finally tore ligiment in my knee (and no, i still didn't get up). After about 3 months of sitting one out my boyfriends best friend made me try "one more time" and i finally did the nasty...i got out of the water! So i threw away the old board that i had and bought myself a new one and i've been working on clearing the wake ever since. My goal....not to have W2W take quite as long! It's been about a year now and i'm LOVING it. Can't quite do a full butter slide and i'm coming up just a little short on clearing the wake. I'm gonna get er done this summer i can feel it. So if any of you guys are down in AZ this summer come out with us and show little o'l me how it's done! |

Oh good, I am not the only one taking forever.
We bought the boat in mid august, our season ends the first of Oct. I have yet to get up enough to say I have. thirty seconds is all I am good for. This summer I am hoping to get more boat time (our boat only has 15 hours on it). |

I got up on my 5th try and stayed up! I had very good motavation though after seeing a very big gator slide off a bank. Every time I saw bubbles is the water I thought one was under me. Was behind a piece of crap boat and thought I was the s##t when I got like 5 inches of air form an inside out wake jump. That was the only time I went my first season. 2 full summers later I can jump w2w HS and working on TS. FS and BS butter slide 180's and some grabs. I think I could do much better if I was not behind an outboard. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |

My first day I got up immediately. I also got out into the flatts and crossed the wake. By the end of my second day I was able to ride switch, ollie, pull a surface 180 and a butterslide 180. _________________ . love genuinely . praise loudly . live fully . |

My husband tried first...he tried to get up ten to fifteen times to no avail. Then he let me try. I distinctly remember him saying, "you'll never get up, it's really hard". Well...more determined than ever...I got up on my first try without a problem, I stayed up for about ten minutes and I just knew he was cursing under his breath on the boat. Hahahaha....
After I gave him some tips, he got up without a problem.
That was last summer and neither of us can go wake to wake yet...we tried for a good four months. |

Mermaid, your siggy made coffee blow out my nose.
My husband and I were the exact opposite of you two. He got up first try, after 15 years of not boarding on the water. (He mono ski's on the snow) Held on all around our little lake and I was in the boat cussing. |

boobybunny, My sig is from The Anchorman.
I got the same reaction when I saw your user name!
I hope you told your husband he did so well strictly because of your awesome driving skills... |

Oh I am cracking up, of course it was a driving skills thing. Wait, he has pulled tourney skiers for 15 years. HIS driving skills are great, but he "pops" me up too fast. The rope goes flying.
And the booby bunny handle is not a sex thing. My daughter has a bunny that she swears feels like my boobs. (it does) This is just one of many of the joys of extended nursing. She sleeps with her booby bunny now, and of course Kip sleeps with me, so I am his booby bunny. All of this was decided when my sweet baby girl was only three, and the name has stuck with me. It is even worse with nursing this new (16 months) baby. |

Ah, the joys of motherhood...I cut my son off after 10 months. He was a biter, so I'm surprised I lasted THAT long... |

Great for you, so many are not breastfeeding for any length of time, let alone 10 months. That is fantastic. Your son will be healthier than all of his friends, you will be healthier than if you had not nursed.
The only driver that does not 'pop" me is a woman. I love going out with her, it does not matter if it is my boat or her's. Her driving is consistant and smooth. Her husband is a great driver as well, very patient. My husband is a great driver on the courses and he is requested quite a bit. I think he just does not have the patience to deal with me, I can not get up on the board or my ski behind him. ANY other driver and I am at least up, if not for long.
I have tried gloves, hooking into the crook of my arm. (ya I know, dislocated shoulder risk) Now, I just don't try with him driving. |

EGADS!! Somehow this post slipped by me. Didn't know my woman was telling my secrets here. Gotta get her in check one of these days! But anyway yeah riding switch is my nemesis, but conquering it is a priority when spring gets here!! The wife just tried boarding when we got our boat and she's learned pretty fast. |

NightAngel, phantom268, LMAO...Luckily my husband hates computers.
I try to ride switch all the time, but it seems hopeless to me.... SO unnatural.
boobybunny, How do you start? Where are your arms...between your legs or around one knee? |

My arms are on the inside of my knees. I think I am in the right position, just too fat, too much water up my nose.
All in all, I think I was very close at the end of the season to actually staying up for some distance. I want to build a balance board and practice. |

I doubt it too...Try putting your lead knee in between your arms and put your but right down to the board.....it will automatically pull your board the right way and you'll avoid plowing. I'm no expert, but it worked for me. |

Ohhh,
I have been putting my back knee between my arms. Could this be a lightbulb moment? My board rotates nicely as I am comming up, and I have no problem with the balance until I am up. But I will try this. It stinks to be talking about this with the boat not even at my house. It is out at my in laws in a heated shop.
Oppps poopy baby gotta go. |

Normal footed, goofy in life. I used to ski, you would think that this would be easy for me. Of course I have had three kids and gained 50 lbs since then.
Angel, we actually go out to my husband's parents place to drink a beer on the boat and listen to Jimmy. Special trips just to sit in the boat. (usually around the day we send the payment off) |

hmmm... i start with my elbows on the outsides of my knees and i have never had a problem getting up. a great piece of advice i was given was to try not to get up, stay tight in the ball for as long as possible even when the board pops up on to the water and rotates. helps to get balanced as your centre of gravity is close. then once comfortable in that position slowly start to stand up, extending the legs first... sorry for the bad explanation... not one of my best skills! _________________ There's nothing like a good old faceplant to wake you up in the morning! |

| Thats also a good thing too. Try staying in a squatted position longer with your butt just barely off the water and try to stand up slowly like Sarah said. WE FINALLY GOT OUR BOAT OUT!!!! I hope to go for a spin this weekend. Weather is looking really really good....about 80F or so. YAY |

I wanted to go get the boat last friday, but then pulled a weather report.
Temps in the mid 50's and rain for the next 15 days. |

Had a great time from what I remember. Ended up with a concusion from a face plant. For the rest of the time afterwards while I was in the boat I kept thinking I was completley somwhere else at times and then relizing I was still on the boat. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |

Yeah, Dubie was pretty confused the rest of the day... but it was a GREAT looking crash! Once you get consistently wake to wake you'll be fine though. You'll have to come back soon!
