my 360's were starting to get really inconsistent before i got injured (almost done recovering from injury and gona ride this week probably). for a while i could land them like 4/5 times but then i stopped getting the handle passes. i was wondering how exactly you get slack? the handle seems to have a lot of tension on it when i do them now and it sneaks away from my other hand or i have to reach for it so it gets torn from my grip when i land sometimes.
when i was doing them well and people would take pictures the line would be all twirled and there would be a lot of slack, i dont remember how i did that but i was just wondering if any of you knew exactly how to get it. i know when i do the 3's right the handle pass is no problem at all and it's just so easy, but lately i must be doing something wrong because it's such a struggle all of a sudden. so... how do you get that slack?

you wanna make sure your popping staight up and not back like a backroll. And wait til you set your axis and just give the handle that nice CONSISTENT push towards your back hip. If you try and pull too early or jerk the handle back really eratic it give a sloppy and uncontrolled 3. USE YOUR OLLIE TYPE EDGE.

it is also really helpful i find to edge as far out as possible and just drift in and throw a nice hard edge at the top of the wake. By cutting out far, you will create a lot of slack in the line and it will definately make it much easier to pass the handle. Any sort of invert that i am trying to pass the handle on, i make sure to cut out far and drift in with the handle in close towards your hip, hope this helps

bhamglassman and wtbamoomba ....I too was in both your shoes less than 2 weeks ago and after watching a lot of film of myself trying, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. 2 things: 1) i was bending my knee's in such a way that it was causing me to go way off axis and when i was hitting the water, my a@@ would hit first(due to being all off axis). 2) and this is where i think u'r problem is....as your hitting the wake and popping off of it, you need to really pull the handle in close so that when u'r rotating around the handle is almost literally right their against your back. this will make finding the handle w/ u'r other hand much easier. once i corrected these 2 things, my 3's have come around 10-fold!!!

good luck fellas!!!!!

Mine are very inconsistant, so take this for what it is worth,
Jump more toward the boat, and you can give the edge away a little
Wait for the full pop, then pulland pass it, keeping your vert axiis

I kinda have the same problem, you just gotta concentrate on pulling the handle when going into the trick, and this has been bothering the crap out of me...

Take a look from a different perspective. Its not really slack as such but whats called Advancement f towards the boat This is achieved by pulling in with both hands as you reach your peak. If you find that hard to understand then tie a rope to a tree, pull the handle in first with both hands to keep it close to your boady as part of the handle pass. The other scenario is dropping your head and chest also makes the pass more difficult, making the handle seem alot further away.

If you edge too hard or too much speed on the approach and the handle pass becomes alot more difficult. Just a soft seated edge is required.

good luck

How do i see all these pros cutting super hard and instead of pulling the rope in just keeping it on their hip the whole time??is there a trick like letting cutting hard but flatting off right before hitting the wake??i mean i just looks like they simply rotate and they never pull just keep the handle at their hips even when they are cutting into the wake??
