Once they get the water drained is my answer. Before the end of october.
We probably will not see him speaking to the press at all before that point. After his two clueless interviews last thursday, he is probably under a gag order.
I would love to see Brown fired and hung out to dry.
I have no faith in FEMA whatsoever after this debacle. Being headed by an unqualified man who was appointed by nepotism, I would not trust them to organize a bake sale. You know he messed up bad if Lott and Clinton agree on his ineptitude.
Offer the job to LTG. Russel Honore- He seems like he would run the department like a top. |

Right after he gets a commendation for sticking by the president's side.
BTW, nepotism is hiring family. This is croney-ism. It's not really Brown's fault that he was underqualified, although I suppose he should have turned down the job, as people may have DIED because he wasn't the right guy. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

cameraboy,
Very good point. Star.
He should have never been appointed.

I think he will resign as soon as Pelosi becomes a Republican.
I mean, I don't think this guy is doing his job (let's face it, he sucks), but seriously, the bitch needs to be pimpslapped. _________________

Brown is a moron. That said, I do not believe that he should bear all the blame. FEMA is an organization that coordinates and directs existing governmental agencies in a relief effort. They contact and control state, city, and county governments in order to provide a united front.
This is where they/we screwed up. Nobody ever thought that the local and state governments would be completely demolished. The lines of communication between the local officials, state officials, and FEMA did not exist(or were very weak). There is no magic cure that would've prevented this from happening, and there is no magic cure that would've saved everyone right after the hurricane.
The blame should be spread among every local, state, and federal agency that has even the smallest part in the prevention of, or response to, a disaster such as this one.
The blame should be spread among the people that had the ability and resources to get out of the area, but failed to listen to the experts that said "get out" over and over.
The blame should be spread among the able-bodied, healthy people that were stealing TV's and beer, instead of helping their dying neighbors.
The blame should be spread among people that could have been in Katrina's path(like me), yet fail to give anything to the relief efforts without understanding that could've just as easily been them.
Is there blame to go around? Yes. Is there one place it should fall? No.
Do I recognize that this is my opinion and that I may've left out other people, on which the blame should fall? Yes. _________________ Weight it, Gas it, Crank it, and just rip. |

What about the President's statements, only one and two days before the hurricane, that he didn't believe that the levees would break, when many, many advisors and even weather people were publically saying that they would certainly break?
Could that have contributed to some people staying? _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

How much NOTIFICATION does FEMA require of LOCAL and STATE officials to start the ENORMOUS wheels of inertia moving?
Doesn't FEMA participate in local emergency drills all over the country annually? Doesn't FEMA prepare powerpoint presentations for the participants outlining the chain of command, notification requirements, etc? After said drills does FEMA not prepare a comprehensive report which outlines areas in need of improvement?
Perhaps they should author it in a language those in LA can understand. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

I'll give him props for being the Wingman and taking one for the team. He is a pretty lowly figure in the Federal world. In charge of only 2,300 people if that! That really isn't that many.
How many disaster reliefs did he coordinate before Katrina? 100's or 1,000's? How many complaints? Why? Perhaps he was working with states where English is the primary language. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |
