Wake Height

How heigh should the wake be so you can get air? I'll get a pic of my wake in a sec i hope it's high enough i don't know. And also i'm a teenager so i'm not heavy (Bout 7 stone thats 45 kilograms)

clean it up and that will be an awesome wake. You can get air off a jet ski. Try riding faster to clean it up, your board looks kind of low in the water. Also, trim up your outdrive a bit.

Some of that might be due to riding in the sea so it's rough. I'll try riding faster though thanks

Yeah, I feel your pain. I ride on a river... a really big river. It's about3 miles wide where I am and almost impossible to find glass. A great place to look is to runinto the wind until you hit land (dont accually hit Laughing

) and look around there.

he can board off that wake no problem, I ride with alot less... but I'm getting a wakeskate. Very Happy

ahh that wake is shitty for a wakeboarder..i second that opinion on gettin a wakeskate. You can do so many tricks and have a better time without a good wake

do you know wtf you are talking about what so ever? Didn't think so. Off that wake with proper technique he can easily do basic inverts, 3's, really anything he wants. Dont try any double mobes and you'll be fine. Its accually quite large and very nicely shaped, just washed out.

You're wrong, we want a quality wake. If we wanted a giant wake we would all be riding behind cabin cruisers. A 6 foot washed out wake wont put you nearly as high as a 1.5-2 ft wake from behind and x-2, SANTE, or wakesetter (trying to cover as many bases as possible so i dont get flamed).

ballywho, Again, I concur with you on something... These people have no idea what they are talking about what so ever...

To give you an idea, the water was rough about a week ago, due to the fact a storm was blowing in... I took a hard fall off of the slider, so I went and just hit the wake. I was on my i/o, with no tower, letting my g/f drive who doesnt know the first thing about trimming up, so the trim was down. I took about 9 foot cuts and there was plenty of pop off of the wake. I will post a pic taken from the video so the quality is pretty rough, but just keep in mind about good form!

As you can see from the pic, there is plenty you can do behind an unweighted i/o, towerless, bad driver, on the choppiest of days... My elbow took a slam into the pvc, so I had a hard time doing much of anything.

Thanks blake! Your wake is pretty much the same as mine and you can do some good stuff on it! God some you... i jsut got a wakeboard how the heck do you expect me do get a wakeskate? I don't want one anyway.

I started behind a 14' Bayliner Jazz jetboat and learned a 360, wrapped first, then handle pass. Then I bought a 1987 17' outboard California Ski and got 3 inverts behind it. The wake behind it was a similar shape than yours but a bit smaller. The good thing is it will teach you proper technique, edging, loading the line and popping so that when you do ride behind a boat with a larger wake you will be skying. Not everyone can start off with a $30,000 boat (give or take) especially the younger guys. Not everones parents are rich, or like mine said, "Hell no Im not buying you a boat with a damn car engine in it! You want one, save up and buy it yourself." So, I did. You wake is fine, just try cleaning it up a bit. Just because some people think it sux, doesnt mean you cant tear it up. You cvan learn a lot with it, it just may not be huge...

Mottie, And trimming, adding some weight to the front of the boat.... Just experiment. My i/o with people sitting evenly, and trimmed up a quarter, puts up a pretty nice kicker. I am just lucky enough to ride behind my fathers SAN when I drive home!

But, work with what you have, and clean it up. Again, I did the pop with a bruised elbow, 9' cut, switch, on an i/o with no ballast, no tower, and g/f driving with motor trimmed down all the way on a choppy ass day. Just work on your form! The wake on my boatn again, can be a very nice kicker when I spend some time on it!

If you are comfortable with your speed and dont want to go faster, try trimming the outdrive up a bit. That should help. I think its probably more in the ride attitude of the boat, not the speed. Often more speed with wash it out even more. Experiment, drive the boat around at whatever speed you ride at, not pulling anyone, and adjust the trim. Watch the wake and see what happens. Good luck.

I learned on a ski nautique's wake. It was just below my knees. The wake you were riding behind in the pic up there looks good to me. Whatever floats your boat bro.
