I bought rope that can be extended in 5 ft increments. 50, 60, 65, and 70ft. I want to know the difference in experience for each rope length. Obviously with the longer rope the wake is wider and probably higher.

Are there certain tricks that can only be done at certain lengths. I can maybe jump the wake at 50ft, but I don't have a chance and anything longer.

What length should I be starting at? I've heard 50 and 60ft. What's the difference between those two? Will certain tricks be easier at different lengths?

What lengths to the pro's use?

i dont know if this is just my appauling wake but mine gets steeper the closer i am to the boat...? It is better to start learning tricks on a shorter rope and extend the rope as you get more confident with the trick. This makes learning the trick slightly easier and reduces the risk of bad wrecks. The pros don't have one set line length, its all down to personal preference. Try the different lenghts and see which one suits you and your boat/wake.

the longer the rope, the wider the wake is, so itll be a little harder, but with a longer rope, you will be able to get more height. so just play around with it. i like it arounf 60 and then the handle so around like 65

How does having a shorter rope make the trick easier and less dangerous? You are still going the same speed? The wake is less steep close to the boat.

It makes it much easier to clear the wake if you shorten the rope. You can approach the wake with less speed making it easier to keep your balance and as you get comfortable with that length you can gradually extend the length. Outboard boats can make pretty wide wakes, so generally the width of the wake would be the same as a wake specific's boat, when you ride shorter. Ideally you want to hit the best "cleanest" part of the wake "hieght and shape" and be able to comfortably clear w2w.

I ride at 60 foot plus handle. I also have an I/O and a tower. While you are riding, maybe look back at the wake, and see if it is firmer, or less washier behind you. You can also play with weight distribution to clean up the wake, and ride with the shorter rope.
