I just had the NVS 1010s installed on my SANTE 2005. They look great and sound even better. BUT, I also noticed the tower has a lot more sway to it and when I hit the chop the whole tower vibrates. Has anyone had a problem with this? Can the tower/boat take regular pounding with all the extra weight?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've had mine up on my tower for about 9 months, no problems yet. I have alot of tower sway. I think any tower will sway with 80lbs+ hanging from it.

I got the 1010's about a year ago for my 04 x-30 with the "zero flex" tower. Had no problems for quite some time but recently the 90 or so lbs up there cracked a weld on my tower. Took a while to find a company that could weld aluminum, fyi a heliarch does great work, but finally got it fixed and back out on the water as good as new, i hope.

The thought of tower/boat damage scares me. Has anyone had experience with the defcon Vs? It looks like they only weigh 25 lbs per side.

Mark, a friend told me they cracked from trailering over 2000 miles? Do you think it was a result of trailering so far or from being on the water?

For the most part, I assume a boat gets alot more jolts from a day hitting wakes and chop rather than being towed due to the fact that a trailer has torsion axles. I'd venture to say that the 2000+ miles on the way back to texas had something to do with it and figure the whole mess was just a fluke.

That's what I thought, but when I look back at my boat during trailering it seems liek the tower moves alot more than on the water. It may have to do with the perspective you have on the water?

Water gives, asphalt does not... Does your boat have suspension on the water, or air underneath? Nope! Your trailer does so you're going to have that continual bounce and rocking. It's not just your tower swaying when trailering, it's the whole kit and ka-boodle. (Boat, trailer, tower, seats, engine, beer in the cooler, etc.) Less shock to the boat, but more bounce to make up for the difference. Otherwise you'd be replacing tires every trip out to the lake...
