|
|
I'm somewhat new to the world of wakeboarding. I'm a good beginner/early intermediate rider.
I need to pick out a decent board and bindings to buy. I'm turning 17 in about 3 days so i'll have some Birthday money. so i've done a good bit of reading, and i'm sure this is still a noob question. (hence the posing in noob section)
Which board and bindings setup do you reccommend. These bindings and boards then whatever else you would reccommend.
Thank You in Advance!
I realize these are pretty pricey combos but i want something nice... if you have a better idea please let me know.
CWB Absolute [Platinum(or not)] - 141
Hyperlite 05 3DS Biolite - 139
CWB Zeus Bindings
Hyperlite Parks Bindings
Other Suggested Combinations are Welcome. Although these are a bit steep in the price catagory, they nice board and binding combos that have good performance and "decent" prices.
By the Way, I'm 6' 2" and 135 lbs. (yeah I know I'm really skinny)
Thanks,

I recommend Hyperlite boards and bindings because of both their performance and their customer service.. CWB LF and other brands make really good stuff too.. Make sure to stay away from Hydroslide.. _________________ dude your gettin a hyperlite |

If you have a boardshop near you, I would say to demo them out... Otherwise, you are going to have guys telling you what they like instead of what is right for you... I am very loyal to CWB as I have been with that company since 98... So, naturally, I would reccomend one of their boards to you like the Absolute, pure, or flame... I have had a chance to ride HYPE-erlite and I dont really like their new line... I am sure that it has to do with it being the "cool" board to have these days... Double UP has some good stuff and I like Gator products as well. I suggest you go to www.boardstop.com and enter in your data and see what types of boards they have for you... However, they dont carry CWB for some odd reason, so that will just have to me something to think about for you. Again, with 8 years with CWB and getting to know the reps, they are all great guys who are more then helpful, so I would reccomend them... Again, this is about you, not me.
And for future referances, you can type in this same exact question into the search field, and come up with 10 zillion search results. I have not been a member here for very long, but I see this topic come up probally once a day atleast! _________________

For the beginner/intermediate, I would highly recomend a Liquid Force Evo. I got my wife a LF Diva which is the same board and I have ridden it. If you are just starting out It a great board. Its very forgiving and consistant off the wake. Its a little loose when neutral on the water, but when you throw it on edge it takes off.
As a beginner you will want something forgiving, trust me. My first board was an 04' Byerly, because I got a smokin' deal on it. I think it truely held me back, I spent alot of down time in the water from catching edges that the Evo wouldn't have. Off the wake, It took a long time before it felt right. Don't get me wrong I love the board now, But it was beyond my skill level and there were times I was really discouraged about riding.
Right now you can pick up year end closeouts pretty reasonable. You could also find some great deals on '04 gear as well. _________________

Blake said it best!!
It has to be about you and what makes you feel the most comfortable.
DEMO!!!! It is very helpful to ride a few different set-ups to find what you are the most comfortable and relaxed on.
Good luck on the search.
