Hey I was planning on building a slider and it occurred to me that 2x4's for bracing would need to be somewhat resistant to water..wouldn't they?

What I want to know is what wood you used and if you treated it in any way?

I used regular 2x4's on my slider and i haven't had a problem. I did stain the wood with a clear deck stain that makes the wood waterproof. You could also use pressure treated wood but it is a lot more expensive and heavier although it would last a longer. I usde 2x3's for bracing on mine thouhg because they were cheaper and they are plenty strong enough.

At the end of this year i built a slider with regular 2 X 4's and it lasted
about 3 weeks but thats all i needed as my season was done. but i would
suggest some kind of stain or water resistant to make it last for a while.

Yes, roll on resin, or somethign like Thompson's water sealer.. although it is expensive, you might be better off looking at Home Depot or Lowe's at the paint returns department for some stain that has been opened. They usually sell the returned paints REALLY cheap!
