I am looking at switching from Nikon to Canon and upgrading all of my photo equipment. I was wondering if any of you know a way to figure out an accurate price for what my old equipment is worth. I've looked around ebay and fredmiranda.com, but it's hard to assign a value to it. I will most likely be selling it to a friend, so I don't want to cheat her, but I also want to get as much as I can for it.

Here is the list of my stuff if you want to help me appraise it.

Nikon D100 (very good condition) and all original accessories
Nikon N90 (good condition)
Nikon ED AF NIKKOR 300mm f/4
Nikon AF NIKKOR 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5
Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4
Nikon SB-25 Speedlight
2 Hoya Circular Polarizers
2 Tiffen UV Haze Filters
1 small camera bag

I also have an AF NIKKOR 70-200 f/4 up in Seattle that I am not including because I don't have it at the moment.

All lenses are in perfect working order with a few minor scratches on the external shell. Everything has been maintained very well. Any pricing help would be great!

Why not keep the filters and bag? They will work fine on a Canon aswell Confused
Are you looking at selling as a whole package? Or each item individually?

Zach M, I highly recommend visiting www.keh.com and browsing their used camera prices. KEH is probably the biggest used camera dealer in the world...you can get a good idea of value from what they have listed.

You could also search completed items on Ebay and check the buy and sell forum on Fred Miranda's site.

The filters fit the nikon lenses that I am selling, but are the wrong size for the canon lenses I am buying. I would love to sell as a whole package to save the hassle of dealing with each item individually. I have a friend who is interested in the whole package, minus the film body and the 300mm. I have another buyer lined up for those.

I second that recomendation for KEH... they have a weird store front, almost non existant... but they are great about used stuff... My partner has gotten 2 lenses and some accesories from them... all in perfect condition. If you live near Atlanta, you can just drop it by.

Zach,

Not too sure what the prices will be like over in the US, but over here in the UK, used Digital gear doesn't sell for a great price, mainly because you can get new gear for not much more! I'd say get a good price from a mate and be happy that they're taking it up and of your hands and getting a great deal - you can't buy friends!

As for switching from Nikon to Canon, you'll never go back! I'm a dedicated Canon user and I used a friends D2H a few months ago and it's just not quite the same as the Canon! Not a bad body, just not the same.

Good luck fella Laughing
