Jack Daniels Single Barrel

This is along the lines of the vodka question. A buddy of mine had a bottle of Single Barrel in his boat. We have been having quite a run of hot humid days. This weekend he had a normal drink for him of half Jd half Pepsi and 3 beers. He later became very sick, hearing loss and odd vision. This was not a heavy drinking day for him at all. We were wondering if the cork on the bottle could have allowed something to grow and him to have been poisoned?

no. really doubt it. Alcohol kills bacteria. Even some "wines" form the Roman era found on the bottom of the ocean are non-toxic and still drinkable.

Probably a reaction to hot humid days, beer and jack...

To say nothing of diet? Sounds more like food poisoning or a bad reaction to food.

1. What the hell are you doing mixing Single Barrel?
2. Sounds like heat stroke, he was probably dehydrated to begin with add a little booze, some sun and humidity and it can be nasty.
3. My educated opinion would lead me to believe the spirit of Mr. Jasper Newton Daniel has punished your friend for the mistreatment of his labors. Laughing

I have left many a bottle in the boat for a week or so, and I have never had a problem with booze gone bad due to heat. Just burns a little more when the liquid is around 95 degrees.

Not enough to warrant a doc visit or to throw away a perfectly good bottle of JD. Cheers.

1w00d, right, but you let him mix it. shame on you. here's what you do next time: take his purse from his hand and set it on the ground. put a few cubes of ice in his cup then pour some single barrel in there. problem solved. the upset stomach happened because god was punishing your friend for what he's done.
