Me and the wife are going to St. Thomas for 9 days. I have heard we need to go to St. Johns for the beach at least one day. Has anyone else been, and have ideas on what to do and what not to do? Any ideas would be a big thank you...

St. Thomas is in the US Virgin Islands if anyone was wondering

The USVI is something to behold. I'd suggest going to Blackbeard's castle to eat one evening, Virgilio's for italian food, drinks at Redhook, and shopping in Charlotte Amalia. Trips to St. John and St. Croix are nice.

If you have the $$, make a trip to the BVI, which have more islands and places to see. If you do go, make sure to go to Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Peter Isl.

The snorkling is great, deep sea fishing unbelievable, and make sure to bring some rum foxy's fire water back with ya.

The diving and snorkeling in the USVI (we went to St Croix) was the best I have experienced. I don't have a lot of dive destinations to compare it to (I dive but am not a die-hard). In two dive we drift for maybe 40 minutes with an endangered leatherback turtle and several rays (a very large Manta and two smaller Eagles), tons of parrotfish and a Moray eel. Far better than the Bahamas and southern Brazil, where we were promised this type of sea life. In St Croix, they never made a promise, yet there were the animals. Underpromise, overdeliver?

Don't miss the sunsets.

Lay on the beach with a drink.

And I also endorse importing as much rum as you can. I think it's six bottles per US Citizen.

Have a great vacation,
The FNG

My wife and I got married on Trunk Bay beach which was absolutely everything we had hoped it to be and more.
Drinking and driving is legal in the St Johns!! Then again the speed limit is only 25 on the whole island.

Hah...hey Kickerz, I wore that same outfit at my wedding, minus the shoes...we were up on a cliff overlooking the beach though. Had some great beach pics taken as well.

St Thomas is great, alcohol limit is 6 Liters per person, you get an extra liter if you bring back a local rum (do it), and it's dirt cheap. If you've got the jack, definitely do some jewelry shopping as well, as diamonds and such are very cheap there too.

the VIs are awsome. you HAVE to go to the baths. that place is beautiful. alsom try and hit up rhode town, i love that city, best icecream parlor ever. the USVIs are a lot more touristy with modern stuff and what not while the BVIs are old school and have alot more culture. also go to salt island and dive the roan if you can.

"Lay on the beach with a drink. "

Nice advice Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Trunk Bay is probably one of the top 20 beaches in the world. Take the early ferry over from St Thomas in the am and you'll almost own the beach.
