alright so i can get some pretty sweet air w2w hs/ts. i can also do a handful of grabs and even a tantrum. but the thing is i just flat out suck at 180s. ive read other instructionals and other posts where they havent even tried to find out how to do one, so this isnt of of those posts because
1. i can ride switch really well (hs/ts w2w halfcabs)
2. i can do ollie 180s
3. i can do off the wake 180s
so i can do all that stuff its just when i go to do the freakin w2w 180 everything feels all weird like i kinda hit the panic button half way through and dont know what to do. I get the board turned but then im like whoa!
and just to have you know i have landed a few ts 180s but dont really have the muscle memory down to keep on doing them because when i did land (2 of) them it was the end of the day and time to go home
so if any of you have been in this situation or just have some insight, feel free to say something.
thanks |

aight, umm i htink it is jut mentally here. so just hink you can do it, visiulize it, step by step, and then grab your balls, and throw it.
or, wait until you know your in the air, dont rotate as soon as you get off the wake, cause then you will go all off axis and be screwed, wait until you are in the air, spot your landing and then bring your hand down to your back hip, this will spin the board 180 degrees, and be confident. |

whiteout, by moving the handle, your hips are more for fine tuning your landing, and for tweaking the board when you get more comfortable/advanced. Technically you could stay board stiff with your body and just pull the rope to your hip and spin the 180 easy (the landing would be pretty tough that way though ) pop off the wake--> pull the rope to your hip--> land strong and confident/riding away on your TS edge. With your extremely solid trick base for this trick you should have NO problem getting this, as soon as you get it right once, you will have her good for all of eternity. Rock on, and ride hard! _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

| You can do w2w TS half cabs but no regular w2w 180s? The key for HS 180s is to get over your toes for the landing. For TS, wait to spin. |

I can't seem to get these down either. For me, I fall back on my butt every time. A couple of times I feel like I have gotten out over my toes. But I don't understand how or why. So, how do you get out over your toes for landing toeside? Everytime I land, I seem to be way back and I slip out backwards. Is it waiting until you're halfway across to pull the rope back? Evening out your weight on the board? Or what? I don't have any clue as to how to get out over my toes right. I've read all the tips...push out your chest, etc. etc. But they don't seem to be sinking in for me... Any clues?
Thanks,
Derek |

| A major tirck on heelside 180's I found to rotate it enough. Rotate so you land with some angle out, this helps you land on your toes. |

| derek_lukasik, to get over your toes, pull the handle to your new front hip and usually let go with your new back hand (old front hand) and kinda push forward like the same idea as doing a chest bump (football thing) Basically you gotta keep the board under you, dont push it out and rotate it in front of you. |

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot. It seems like I have the rotation down. Sometimes I feel like it might be easier to just go for a 3....but I know that wouldn't work. I usually land at about a 45 going away from the boat. I've also tried letting go with my original front hand. The problem is that I'm usually leaning back as if I was edging in heelside instead of leaning forward to edge out toeside. If that make sense. When this happens, I fall back.
I think the natural tendency is for the board to be out in front of you on a jump. This is probably how I'm getting messed up. I just need to figure out how to get it back under me (or even a little behind). Almost like I'm doing an off axis 180 or something....
Anyway, thanks for the tips. Hopefully I'll get it straightened out...
Now about my backroll...

I'm working on my Hs and TS FS 180s as well, and have started landing quite a few. I still do the butt slide occasionally. I've landed them on my toe edge, heel edge, flat..
When you leave the wake you're at a slight angle (I ride regular) towards your back leg. If you pivot on that axis, you'll land with the board sorta out in front of you.
Once your in the air and start rotating the board, look out and over your toe edge. That will force your upper body to level out a bit I have to really think about it right now, but sure it'll become second nature as I get used to it.
That's the best I can describe it from trying to picture it in my head. As always, practice it alot and keep tabs on what you're changing with each jump. |

all you have to do is REMEBER to land on your toes comiong from your heelside and heels coming from your toeside in order to not slide out of it after landing. took me a few to get it down but its there and thats all i told myself when i was learning. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, Live as if you'll die tomorrow. |

when you land make sure the board is facing away from the wake and you cut out just as hard as you cut in _________________ i love lamp. Crikey |
