cant stop doing mexi roll

I have tried a hs backroll about 20 times. I get close but alway turnit into a mexi roll and get tangled in the rope

what you are doing is bending at your waist and looking down when you initiate this trick, which would be good if you are going for the mexican roll (hs front roll). to prevent this you need to take a progressive edge up, through, and away from the boat on take off, and look more so into the sky above your front shoulder. i was having the same problem as you, it took a little while to get over it, but start doing it now and you wont be stuck. if that doesnt make sense let me know.

Thank you for the help. Can u land a mexi roll too. Should i try to do that or stick with the backroll

really go for the backroll, then later on you can learn the mexican roll. each trick has its own progression into bigger tricks so ideally at some point you will need to learn both.

make sure you dont square up to the boat when you flip
