one of my top speakers just stopped working. the tweater still works, but the mid or w/e speaker doesnt. I have 2 mb quart tower speakers, and the other works good. Everything is hooked up exactly right. When i push the cone in a hold it in, it starts playing normal but as sooon as i release it, it stops playing out of that speaker. does this mean its blwon? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/jordanmx |

I don't really understand what your saying, but on one of our speakers, we took the speaker out of the can, and one of the wires wasn't staying connected, so just make sure all the wires are connected from the amp to the speakers, through the tower and everything. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

im saying that mt left tower speaker plays fine, and my right one only play out of the tweater. the mid speaker doesnt work, unless i turn on the music, and push the cone in a hold it in. then it plays until i let it go. what does this mean? no wires are loose. is it blown? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/jordanmx |

as far as fixing it is concerned yes it is blown.
the speaker will have a pair of terminals on its chassis and a couple of very flexable wires will come off the back of these and dissapear into the cone of the bass/mid driver. These wires are crimped onto the voice coil which is wrapped around a kevlar former to maintain its shape and help dissapate heat. Sometimes these crimp connections fail prematurely, sometimes due to fatigue and sometimes due to overheating due to too much power. Pushing the cone in exerts enough force on the crimp joint to make it work.
This cannot be repaired _________________ Wakeboarding is so Kool in Ireland! |
