I have a maxtercraft x-30, and the hull had been turning more yellow and faded looking over the years. its only a 2001 and u can tell its getting yellow. Its only below the black. How do you get rid of this or is this permanent?

That would be a lake scum stain. Go to Wal-Mart and get some Hull Cleaner. Put on gloves and a painter's mask and put the Hull cleaner in a spray bottle and spray it all over the stain, it will bleach it back out white. Be careful with the stuff though, it's pretty potent and will burn your skin, nasal passages, and eyes, hence the need for gloves and mask.

Just went at that stuff on my 01. Hull cleaner works like a charm, but it'll tear the lining out of your nose so you have to do it outside. It's called On & Off by a few manufacturers. I got mine at West Marine. Just spray it on like Tiffanator said and hose it off!

m4t1x, yep, pretty easy fix, just spray the stuff on, let it sit for a few minutes, then hose it off. Probably want a coat of wax on there afterwards because it will strip off the wax. I had a friend who didn't know about the stuff and went after his with a sander... bad idea. But like I said before, make sure you cover up any exposed skin and wear some goggles and a face mask if you go under the boat, I've gotten that crap up my nose before and it BURNS! What I do if I'm cleaning the bottom is I put on a pullover raincoat and some surgeons gloves, then a painter's mask and safety goggles and crawl under the boat, spray it on and crawl back out, then hose it.
Good luck
Tiff

Another idea when you use this stuff is go to a carwash and do it..........It is hell on grass if you do it in your driveway and it runs off........I learned the hard way. Stuff works great though

Get a 1 gallon jug of Toilet bowl cleaner. Get some heavy duty rubber gloves and clean it off in a well ventilated area. I do that at the end of every season. It will look brand new!!!

Just be careful not to get any of the cleaner of the stainless steel hardware or the carpet on your trailer. If you do give a real good rinsing.

I tried the 50/50 toilet bowl cleaner and hydrogen peroxide mixture a ton of folks recommended, but it didn't work a fraction as well as the hull cleaner. Plus, the 50/50 mixture stained my driveway (my fault, but I was still kinda irked).

Suprair, why did you mix it with Hydrogen peroxide? Straight toilet bowl cleaner is what you need. Think of the what it takes off your toilet and makes it shiny white again. It does the exact same thing for your boat hull.

M4T1X you can use the toilet bowl cleaner on the color of the hull as well. It will be exactly the same as a "marine cleaner" however anything that says marine will be at least 4 times what it should be.

If you're worried about it, test a little underneath where your platform goes.

Threads both in PlanetNautique and MalibuBoatOwners said to use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and toilet bowl cleaner. I'm not sure why the mixture as opposed to just putting it on straight.

http://www.wakesiderides.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5975

http://www.planetnautique.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3353&highlight=hull+cleaner

The active ingredients in toilet bowel cleaner and the hull cleaner aren't exactly the same. The hull cleaner uses phosphoric acid and hydrogen chloride, while the main cleaner in toilet bowel cleaner is hydrochloric acid.

Straight up Sno-Bol. About 4 bucks a bottle and you can clean your potty when you're done with the boat. Sorry..5 year old at home!

Seriously, I would not waste money on that marine specific product...way too much. regardless of what you use, you will want a good coat of wax afterwards.
