So I thought I have been doing a backroll for the past year and a half or so and friends have even agreed with me that it is one. But for the past week I havnt been able to land but a couple. And so I came on here to read what might be the matter and its a big problem, atleast I think it is. I've been putting my ear to my back shoulder instead of putting it to the front shoulder. And since I couldnt land it off the normal wake yesterday I did it off the double up and pulled like a mexi-roll or something, it was like the exact opposite rotation of a tantrum. I dunno, wish I had it on video, but can anyone tell me what I've been doing? I'm gonna try the backroll the right way today and see how it goes. _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? | in order to initiate the rotation for a backroll you should be spotting over your lead shoulder. If you are looking down and towards your back shoulder that will initiate the rotation for a mexiroll (sort of a HS frontroll). it is best to let go with your back hand after initiating the mexiroll, that will help keep you from doing a mexiroll to revert, and getting tangled in the rope. |

Alright, that sounds about right as when I first started doing them I would get tangled in the rope and was forced to let go with my backhand. Thanks for the info. _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? wakensurf4life, doing a mexiroll isn't necessarily wrong. The different styles of backrolls are better suited to certain tricks.
For example a regular backroll would be better for a hs mobe whereas a mexi-roll is better for tricks like a kgb. |

Went out yesterday but got stormed out before I could ride so went out for a long session today and nailed two out of three backrolls and two outa three mexirolls. The backrolls are soo much easier, I've been trying the mexiroll forever and cant get it consistantly but today was the first attempt at the back roll and stuck it second and third try. Soo stoked! _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot?
