You do spend alot of money. you have to buy a board bearings tower ( if you want one) fat sacs, gas. IMO you had better be into it if you are going to spend that amount of money.

Exactly my motto. All my friends think I'm crazy when I'm spending extra on a towline. Or the amount that I spend on gas. What else am i gonna do with it? Spend it on the GF??? she's happy with bringing her friends out wakeboarding and showing me off. lol.

Uhh, alot. 120 to fill up and like 350-400 for a setup, 10000 for the boat 40 for the towline 50-75 for a handle which equals... hmm... More than I make. Laughing

Because I already have one and they dont know the finer points of wakeboarding. It's not in sections (I cut it Laughing )and its pure poly pro. However they dont get air, only carve around so they dont feel it.

Well I get off cheaper than some. I went in on a boat. So that means:

$180 a month boat payment
$250 for insurance
$500 wakeboard and bindings
$165 rope and handle
$300 for half of custom ballast
$135 lifevest
$260 drysuit
$75 shorty
$40 boardshorts
$300 lessons
$35 for half of gas 3 - 5 times a week
And there is always the additional expenses

Wakeboarding can be a money pit.

But it is money well spent

Memories last a lifetime. Very Happy

We ride 3 - 5 times a week. Usually early on Saturday and Sunday. Then 2 - 3 times during the week in the evening. It is summertime. Gotta take advantage of the weather. Everyone on the boat rides. Usually 4 - 5 people. Everyone does at least two sets. Our X-2 only has a 33 gallon tank. Thats easily gone in 3 - 5 hours of pulling. So we have to get gas that often. Although in the last couple of weeks I have had to bum rides while our boat sits. I don't have a tow vehicle and my married friend has been busy with domestic responsibilities.

My motto has always been, make as much money as efficiently as possible and play as hard a possible as often as I can. I play hard and work hard too. I was thinking the other day how sad it is that we all had to work at some point or another letting the enjoyment of life slip away.

I will spend my money making sure I enjoy my life as much as possible, its the only one I got. This summer was the first summer I actually did not work a 32+hr week (student job) and made me realize that money is not everything in the world. As much as I would like to be the rich guy who works 60+hrs a week that rides on the one saturday a month he gets off in his SANTE, more days on a lake with less comfort is my style.

Now if only we could get housing prices to go down here in a couple years... lol

I wish that was true for me. But I don't have that many friends. And nobody wants me on thier boat anyway. It sure is nice when I can just be a passenger and not have to drive the boat. It gets old pulling riders. Especially when you don't have perfect pass and have to do it manually. It really sucks to get in from a run and have to pull the next rider. No time to relax.

Each year?!

I think when owning a new boat every 2-3 years, maintenance, insurance, cleaning, fuel and wakeboard stuff it will run about $15k each year in Europe (around 100-150 hours). Glad I can split it with my brother.

im incredibly lucky that my parents pay for the boat costs, but i have still spent a ton of money on wakeboarding this summer. i spent 500 bucks on ballast, 400 as my share of our new stereo, probably 400 dollars on gas, and now my board is broken and my bindings are shredded so i need to get a new setup. so far this summer ive spent a good 1300 dollars on wakeboarding, and i dont even have to pay for the expensive part - the boat.
