I'm new to wakeboarding and took it up because I can't snowboard in the summer and wakeboarding seems the closest. Since I am new I have a bunch of questions I was hoping someone could help me out with. My first question is: How does a tower really affect your riding? Do I really need one? How long of a rope should I have? Do wakeboard ropes have longer handles to make passes easier? What is a good stance? Wide? Short? Low angle? High Angle? How do these things affect your riding and you tricks? Should I set it up like my snowboard stance? Thanks for your help.

Ok here is the skinny accordint to me.

Tower, does it matter?
Yep it does. Not in the begining other then easing the process of getting up. A tower will give you more hang time in you jumps and higher elevation.

This is because the rope is pulling you up not down. You can get a fly hi pole or make one yourself for the time being and get the same effect...check the DIY forum.

It's not going to change the basics much at all though.

As far as rope, it would help to get a non strech rope and a decent handle. I assume your behind an I/O? If so the best way to find out how far out you need to be is to get the boat up to speed, what ever it happens to be for you (18-23mph) and throw the line out behing the boat, let the line out until the handle is at the largest beefest part of the wake that is not washey and ride at that distance, my guess is 50-65 Feet.

What is a good stance?

This is one of those that is personal preference. The best way is to jump forward about 2 feet from a standing position and then look down at your feet and set your binding that way. Try to get them in as close to the same holes on the board to keep it balenced. Some people find that if they set ther back leg back a bit more they don't dig the nose but it's up to you

yea, when i bought my board it was shifted far back for a regular stance so the nose wouldnt dive and i had a hard time switch, but now the bindings are even and ducked out nicely Cool
