Ok everyone I have a question. My mastercraft boat says that the weight limit is 1,130 pounds and I want to get some sand bags in there to beef up my wake. I added a tower from 13th floor and plus people and gear and sand bags, is it ok to exceed the weight limit a little bit because I have been reading that people are putting like 700 pound sacks in there boats. My boat is like a 92 I think, it was the last year mastercraft made the tristar. One other question is should I try and put alot of the weight in the back or do you want to level out the boat, my motor is in the middle. Thanks for any help!

here we go again..... if you use water sacks then they really shouldn't count against the weight... they are neutrally buoyant.

60% back, 40% front is the general rule of thumb

If you are running a tristar 190 here is what I would do. I had one for 3 years.

210lbs in the nose of the boat as far forward as you can get it. Sand works the best.

In the back put two full size sacs along the side of the engine pushed all the way to the back. I also use to run about 200 in lead in the side pushed all the way to the back of the boat behind the side walls. Sometimes I would also have another 210 in sand behind the motor cover on the floor between the sacs. This is the setup that I found to work the best.
The tristars have the gas tank in the nose which is why you don't need as much up front as other boat. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a email and I will help out. That is one of my favorite wakes from older boats. The only reason I got rid of it was it got to crowded with all the sacs and weight. I upgraded to a v-drive.

Neutrally buoyant once the boat is swamped, lol.

A person is also neutrally buoyant, so by that logic they shouldn't count as weight either.

Im not sure what you all mean about neutrally buoyant but im going to go to home depot tomorrow and get some sand and put it in trashbags and ducktape it then i have a few big duffle bags i can put them in. I will probably try it out early next week once I put my prop back on (buddy had one to many and got sideways putting my boat on the trailer and the prop hit but i grinded it pretty smooth) thanks for your help everyone.

Stan Taner- it is a tristar 190, i like its wake to and the boat has been in my family since i was a wee lad but it does get crowded in there on big trips.
