okay. gonna forget the basslink and preamped options. i want stronger bass than that. what options are there for 1 amp and 1 subwoofer to be located right under dash.

single 10" or 12"? what brand? which amp to power them?

i've been seeing a lot of 400 - 500 watt single channel amp to a 10" or 12"... this is what i'm looking for, but don't know what brands except for JL w6v2 or something similar. i'm a noob with this stuff. i see IDMAX, Infinity, Eclipse, others i have no idea. i'm pretty sure any more wattage than that would be out the price range.

for amp + sub, willing to spend from $300 - $500. i'm guessing that this is what the price range will be from the 500watt 12" combo's i think. i don't care where to buy. i can buy on ebay, online, or wherever is reliable and cheaper.

Anyways, i hope people have the same question i have and I am open to many suggestions. I think many don't want a huge box taking up the trunk space and just get one slamming sub underneat the dash. Thanks.

1 600+ watt 2005 Sony Mono Amp - $140
1 12" JL W6 - $250
Use the rest for an Ebay Box and Amp kit.

JL makes a good sub. Eclipse makes good stuff but I dunno about their subs, probably just fine. Adire, kicker, um...damn there's tons of subs out there that are good. For the amp, Hifonics makes a really good amp for dirt cheap. Check out www.woofersetc.com and shop around. Pretty good prices there. If it were me I'd measure first and figure out what kind of dimensions I have to work with. A w7 would be great, but not gonna happen if you only have 6" of mount depth. And just cuz I love to say it...Sony blows.

jl's make sick subs, but their a bit pricey. i spent 500 for my sub/amp/box setup.

1 rockfordfosgate p3 10 in sub at 400 watts rms.

1 rockford fosgate p3001 amp that runs at 394 watts rms, which is enough to run that sub. it says only 300 watts rms but its underated.

1 sealed box.

it hits very hard, and i would highly recommend.

i would not recommend however a sony amp to run a sub, they just can't handle that much power, they overheat and don't run at the power their rated at. only use sony if your budget is low.

Kicker 10" L7 (I think, The square sub) in a Kicker Truck box $150 at Circuit City.
$300 will be plenty for just about any amp
$50 for installation stuff.

Actually from everything I've read and heard the new 2005 Xplod series Sony amps are great. You can get a 500 watt rms Mono off ebay for $134, that leaves a lot of $$ left for a great sub. Everyone has their own opinions on the best sub/amp. I've personally only run Fosgate and Kicker, but I've heard a new Sony pushing two 2 12s in a 4Runner and it sounded pretty good.

I think that deal is for the comp cvr. The 10" L7 sells for 349 by itself. Unless your local circuit city is blowing them out that sounds a little on the low side.

I would say get a JL w3 with about 300-350 watts RMS going to it and put it at the drivers feet and you would not have any complaints.

Cbrown,

You're right, The one in the box is the L5. Embarassed
I just checked their site and they have them for $299. I don't know what the deal was on them, Maybe they were mismarked or something. If I knew they were that much I should have bought every one they had when the salesman was trying to get me to buy one for half that. Evil or Very Mad
