I need some serious help on this trick. I ride on a lake that has only a handful of wakeboarders, none of which can do inverts. So I have no one to give me any advice. After reading old posts about backrolls I have this......... cut out about 15 feet then cut in with a progressive edge but once im 3 feet away from the wake im lost. I hear some say i need to make the nose of my board perpendicular to the wake..is this right? I also understand I need alot of tension on the rope and to keep it at my hip. Another question is do i wait until i have jumped off the wake and my board is completely off the water before i look of my front shoulder? Thanks ahead of time for answering my questions. I need to recieve as much help as possible because I have taken too many hard falls (pulled my right arm out of socket) on what people say is a relatively easy trick.

as far as my ability goes....... w2w ts and hs w/ grabs and switch,ts 180 w/ grabs, hs 180 w/ grabs, and a hs 360

If you can, try to picture the trick in your head. When you are just outside the wake you want to make your cut a 90 degree angle to the wake. At the same time you leave the wake your head should be looking over your lead shoulder.

The most important part of a roll is how you leave the wake. On a normal wake jump, you are leaving the wake at about a 45 degree angle, basically jumping almost toward the boat. On a roll you want to concentrate on the board going up and away from the boat. If you hit the wake at a 90, the board will go up and away, whether you want it to or not.
