|
|
| I just bought a 2000 X-Star and I am unsure on the towing capacity of my Chevy. Does anybody tow with a V6 Chevy? Am I going to kill my truck? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks. |

Which v-6 is does it have and is it an auto or manual transmission? I think that is too early to be a vortex motor. If it is a vortex I wouldn't worry about the motor.
My little bro had a '94 chevy with the v-6 (4.3L) and the motor was ok, a little more power is always nice, but the transmission went out on us, presumably caused by pulling with too much weight. Regardless I would make sure you either have a transmission cooler in it or put on in quick!
Note: We were pulling a boat with a dry weight around 2250lbs, not as much as your x-star. |

| I think it has the same 4.3L as the '94 with an automatic trans. The trans is a concern. We have had some issues with the Ford Explorer trans also. Might just need to sale it and go with the V8. |

I pull my Supra with a '98 Chevy w/a V6. You'll have some problems going up hills, but the key is to not force it. Take your time getting moving and watch the temp gauge. And incase you don't know.....never pull in overdrive! This will kill your trans. _________________ "You know what those things can do? I drive a '98 chevy with a v-8 and it pulls our 04 Centurion just fine. But it does have the Vortex engine. I dont htink that you should have any real problems unless you'll be towing it long distances or in hilly areas often. it wouldnt hurt to ask your mechanic though _________________ Chicks dig a tan |

| The motor is only part of it, call the dealer and find out for sure. You need ALL the towing stuff, tranny cooler especially. |
