After talking to several film and wakeboard buddies, I decided to do a 24p test on some wakeboarding footage and see what I thought. I was warned it wouldn't work, but have a look at the results and let me know your thoughts.
Some info:
- Shot on DVX100a, scene file #5 which is 24p "a"
- Shutter speed was 1/120
- captured on FCP with the advanced pulldown removal setting so each frame is actually there
- Its encoded as H.264 so you'll need quicktime 7 (mac) or the quicktime 7 preview for windows

Bryan Barton shot just about all of "Untouchable sound" in 24p with DVX100's so you can see a complete DVD of it if you want. It's getting good slo motion that's the problem. You can't tell much looking at compressed video over the web, you need to be viewing it on a good monitor at full resolution.
I'd still like to get my hands on some full rez HDV WB footage though. _________________ Rich Dykmans |
