I'm a beginner wakeboarder on a 88' bayliner, and the boat has finally died... GOOD, no more stalling on freezing days in Wisconsin. I've got roughly 15k for a boat. What should I get and what should I do to it? I realize 15k isn't much, so I need the biggest bang for my buck!

You could get a 1999 Moomba Kanga with low hours. It is the same as the Outback, but is closed bow. It is pretty good when you add some weight to it. Of course it is not going to be like a 30K boat. Most people don't want a closed bow boat, which make 'em more affordable if you don't really mind. We got a 98 Kanga last year with 157 hours, in almost perfect condition for a bit under 15K. You may be able to get a Nautique or something if you go with an older year and more hours. We went with the Kanga b/c we wanted reliablility first and foremost.

the problem with getting a nautique is you are still going to be in a 15 year old boat.....with mechanical problems....that would be the last thing I would do....if you go i/o again maxum boats make a really nice wake, stay away from glastrons, look for a heavy built deep hull, and you can get a newer set up.....I looked at an 88 2001 nautique for 12000 a couple of years ago, glad I didn't get it cause it has been a nightmare to keep running for a friend of mine.....so you should think long term and upkeep as well

In an ideal world, the boat is an open bow... This way more people can ride in the boat!

I would go for a mid 90's Sport Nautique. Great all around boat.
