Does anyone have this boat? How is the wake for boarding? How should it be weighted? I am thinking of getting an early 90s prostar.

YES YES OH YES YOU MUST WEIGHT IT DOWN! WE HAVE THE SAME BOAT AND WE MUST LOAD IT UP WITH WEIGHT, LIKE ALMOST ALL OTHER BOATS. jUST GET THE BOAT AND THEN ADD SOME FAT SACS AND SOME PUMPS. WEIGHTING DOWN A BOAT THAT MUCH IS DEFINATELY A DRAG, BUT THE WAKE IS GREAT!!! iT IS DEFINATELY WORTH IT _________________ YOyo Tacoma really blows if yur talkin about good weather! |

Get rid of the caps, T-town boy. You're giving us a bad name in WA. As far as the boat, the wake is actually pretty clean. We weighted my buddies with the side sacs(one on each side of the engine cover) and people and it always threw a nice wake. Real clean and easy. Not the biggest your gonna get now days with all the gadgets the new boats have but... _________________ The Dude abides! |

I am a formerprostar owner and had a good experience with the boat. If your talking late 80's early 90's cant go wrong for the price you can pick these up at. All glass construction, solid boat. Only two complaints Ford engines are very cold blooded, not a dream to start and warm. Also it is a smaller boat so with extended pole boat can be pulled side to side and wash out wake as you go at it.

Hi
I've a MC 190 ProStar too. It's a 1991.
Don't forget that, concerning the wake, it was the former X-Star hull...so, add weight and you'll have a nice wake. Also, it depends on the Year. I heard that some ProStars don't have a that nice hull for wakeboarding cause they where constructed to provide the best wake (no wake) for mono...probably, my one is one of them
Concerning the block, I run the ford 351. I didn't had any problems yet...and remember, it's a 1991 (2000 h)! The only thing you should never do is to go fast when it's cold (just let it "blubber" by filling your sacks). And oil and always enough water to cool it down...and it will run for years....ok, and every 300 hours you've to change the impeller...but that's with every boat the same, I think.
At the moment, I upgraded the whole electricity...it's the hell of work...but now, I'm running with two batteries (one only for the motor and the other for the sound-system )
Also, I took out the whole dash-board...the electricity behind was made very cheap (but that's also the same with every american fun boat...very expensive but cheap quality)
Go the get it and then start to customize a bit...nice boat and not only good for wakeboarding!
Get some pics @ my site! (it's german, but the pics are multilangual )
