| after reading a few topics on this forum you guys are recommending a speed of 16-25 mph when wakeboarding. well i have been trying to go this speed and i cant keep the board stable. the only way i can keep the board stable is around 30-35 mph. do i have a problem with my speedometer or is this just me not being able to keep the board stable? |

My first guess is that youre speedo is way off. at 30+ MPH, the wake would be a thin little rooster tail and only a few feet wide at a normal rope length. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

| i doubt that is what i have been riding at, i talked to the dealer i got the boat from yesterday and he said my speedometer is way off and to bring it in and he will fix it but i think im just going to get the 'sog' gps cause from what i hear they are the most accurate |

Hey rs4duke,
Boat speedos are notoriously inaccurate! If the dealer will fix it free, fine but don't pay anyone, it's not worth it...you can get a hand held gps that'll give you speed...
However, what you really want to gauge speed by is your WAKE, when does it look good? Every boat is different, weighting (and where it's placed fore and aft) changes things ALOT.
The instability of the board will go away as you progress, don't worry about it....keep on edging and practicing - obviously go out in smooth water if you can - no wind...
You'll find that fairly small adjustments in speed DO make a difference, spend some time "tuning" your wake, don't even look at the speedo....move people/weight around in the boat till it looks good, search the forum for tips on weighting your boat, there's a ton of info here. If you then have a question, post in the boats section what kind of boat, ballast, etc....but Search first, prolly someone has the same boat/ballast config. you're lookin' for.
I just use my tach for RELATIVE information, I have no idea how fast I'm going...

rs4duke, try not riding of the SPEEDO, but instead of the RPM gauge, I ride behind an mastercraft x-7 and prefer anywhere between 2200 and 2500 RPM. _________________ 137 Byerly - LF Spynx Snake Skin - Mastercraft X7 |

| my brother fell down at 26mph and burst his ear drum. your speedometer must be way off. on my board and my brothers board it says not to exceed 25mph when riding and their both good boards. |
