| I've noticed a lot of speakers (polk, kicker, sony) on ebay. I would like to add speakers to my tower and these seem pretty inexpensive. What do you guys think? I have no clue when it comes to speakers & stereos so your help is appreciated. |

| Any of those will be sufficient enough. Definitely get 6.5" speakers or better. Then make sure you have enough power to push whatever you end up with. I have (4) cheap 5-1/4" (no namer) and they sound awesome. If I had any of the names mentioned above, it would be outstanding. I'd lean more towards Polk, Kicker and definitely keep an eye on weather the speakers are marine or not, especially in salt water conditions. |

eBay is awesome for stereo stuff -- I have purchased a lot of my stuff there. I did a major upgrade this past winter, spending just over $2,000 including all parts and labor. If I went strictly retail, I would have spent about $1,000 more. When you see something you like, go to the manufacturer's web site and see if it's really what you want. I bought the following off eBay:
Sony CDX-F7705X head unit
Sony Auxillary Input Selector
XMDirect Universal XM Satelite Radio Tuner
XM Direct Sony Smart Digital Adapter
XM Magnetic Antenna
Sony Remote Commander (wired remote)
Pioneer Premier Sub Woofer
4 tower cans w/Sony speakers
4 Sony speakers (floor level) _________________ Get There... |

you really should try to stay away from sony. they suck. there speakers and amps are overated power wise. they'll lable an amp 600 watts, but its only 600 watts peak which means nothing. sony amps also overheat alot and don't like to be bridged.
sony speakers are weak and are only good to be run off a deck, mine as well throw them away if you want to hook them up to an amp cuz you'll most likely blow them.
i would go with boston acoustics or alpine for speakers, rocksford fosgate for subs, and rocksford fosgate for amps.
my system consists of 4 pioneer speakers (im not a fan of them), alpine HU, rocksford p3 10'' sub powered by a rocksford amp, and a sony amp (i hate it) powering my pioneer speakers. go to www.carstereo.com to get very cheap prices, then take them to your local audio shop (not bestbuy) to price match. don't buy on online sites that carstereo.com lists cuz you don't get warranties like they state, you get duked. Good luck |
