My family has been going to Clear Lake for the last 50+ years. This last year was the worst as far as water goes. I would have rather just towed my boat there and not taken it off the trailer than go out. I talked with a few of the main folks that arrange the trip and they said they were open to other suggestions. The price for a rental place is not a big deal, we were renting a place for $6k+ a week in years past that was on the water/boat ramp/lift/pier/beach.
I usually do a week long trip up at Trinity with my buddies and there families, but there are no other real activites that are near the lake other than boating.
Here are some of the requirements my family has for a vacation spot:
Nearby (<45 minutes) town/small city. Movie theater, good grocery store, other activities.
Place on/within 300' of the water. Hotel/vacation home, no cabins/camping, .
Good water during the week, busy weekends is fine.
Family type enviroment during the daytime/early evenings.
Not to far away (<3 hours from San Jose/Santa Clara). I am not 100% on the length of drive. That is about what they do to get to Clear Lake.
Suggestions/Ideas? Berryessa? Shasta? Usually the timeframe is mid July. _________________ Reverend Dr. Jay

Nacimiento? Great on weekdays, super close to a city, and tons of vacation homes.
Shasta is a bazillion time better, though. |

| i really can't see folsom being a vacation spot. too small of a lake and unpredictable water conditions. i've heard great things about nacimiento, and of course shasta. |

Since I live a few miles from Folsom, that won't be much of a vacation for me.
Shasta has been my thought too. I will look up Nacimiento. Sonoma and Medocino are decent from what I recall.
Great ideas, guys, I will loook them up in my book tonight. _________________ Reverend Dr. Jay
