Good evening.
My current board is a base model liquid force that is a few years old. Its alright, i guess, but i just dont have the money for a new board. I recently broke a fin(if thats the correct term) off it, and im looking at buying new ones. I just have a few questions.
I cant go too fast with this board, cause when i get to a certain speed the board looses track and swivels back and forth. so thats limiting my speed. that makes me think i want a taller fin, to stay more in the water so i can go faster.
another part of me wants me to get a shorter fin so i can easily change my stance. as of right now i need to jump to change my stance, i cant just spin myself around on the water like i see on some videos.
thank you very much for your time, im not new to wakeboarding, but i dont have too much knowledge about gear and such, so bear with me

| MIght have to do with older design. I would recommend getting something with built in fins ... Ie substance... Those board usually offer best traction while staying relatively "loose". |

thanks for the link, ill look into some of those.
as of now im wondering what kind of fin im looking for.
is there a website that tells you which fins are meant for what riding style? i think it will be easier for me to choose if im looking at various descriptions for different fins.
thanks |

derek33, fins screw in differently depending on the board. Some have 2 wide screws others have 1 screw with 2 nubs on the side and others might even have another notch if you have a long fin.
I don't understand your point in wanting to go fast.. You want to go about 20-25mph and that's it. If you're struggling with small fins you probably need to work on your edging technique. You have to lean back on your board to get it on edge, not just rely on your fins to generate speed.
With that said I'd go to a local shop and get some advice. If I were in your position I would get between an inch to an inch and a half. Inch and a half fins are on the big side. |

My board is an older liquid force search.
it uses 2 bolts to hold the fins on, i figured it woulda been a universal piece.
thanks for the help |

derek33, forget about any fin made by hyperlite in the past 3 years because they use a different screw/"nub" layout.
the fins are generally a pretty universal piece just as you think. basically the bigger fin you have the stronger it will hold edge. this will allow you to have a more stable (less wobbly) feel, but you will lose the ability to slide the board around like you see on those videos. if you want this feel, you have to go with a smaller fin. a smaller fin wont have all the stability that the longer fin has, but it will let you slide the board around more on the surface.
i would personally go with a 1.1 to a 1.3 fin. this is long enough so that you will be able to edge pretty easily but it will also allow you to spin the board around without all that much effort. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

thank god you told me that, i was just about to order the new hyperlight p 1.4 fin. it seems like a pretty moderate middle of the road fin.
if my board is too old for this newer fin, which are some fins that will fit my board?
thanks |

Try Rainbow Fin Company. They may have something for an older model like yours. But make sure the mounting pattern is the same. _________________
