|
|
Well, in three weeks we'll be taking our boat on our very first extended road trip. We are heading down to Lake of the Ozarks for 6 days. Been trying to make sure that I've got my bases covered before we hit the road. Here's what I have though of so far.
1. Trailer check-up (tires, lights, fuses, etc)
2. Spare tire (lug wrench & jack)
3. Boat cover
4. Extra fuses, bulbs, plugs for boat
5. Extra prop and wrench
6. Fire extinguisher
7. Life jackets
8. Orange flag (MO state law for skiing/boarding)
9. Extra ropes and bumpers
10. Toolbox
11. GPS
12. Distress & First Aid kits
13. Anchor
Would appreciate any additions to the list! Want to make sure I am road-ready!
Thanks,
Chad |

May want to add a pre- assebled hub assembly and a grease gun incase you have and bearing problems on the road. _________________ S. Stojak |

| I was just about to also chime in on the trailer bearings. Make sure they're greased up and ready to go. |

Sun block, and Heavily agree on spare hub. Best 60 bucks you'll spend.
Why on earth would you need a GPS? Can't read maps? _________________ I'm hung like Einstein,

Prop puller, extra key. For extended trailering, take off the prop. Lots of dings from stones and road debris. It only takes a few minutes to put back on and your prop is safe.
Wheel chocks. If you have to park the trailer on a slope, you will need them.
Spare drain plugs. Put them in a plastic bag and stow them in the boat with a couple of sprays of WD-40.
Spare belt and impleller with the tools to change them. Again, put the tools in a plastic bag with a few squirts of WD-40. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983

with boobies, booty usually comes along with it.
Don't forget tape for you Perfect Pass Paddle wheel, if you have perfect pass. On extended trips it could burn up the wheel (since it plastic and plastic melts with heat and friction) since the wheel will be spining with the air pass over it. _________________

Comealong, tow strap and tie downs (to strap an axle up).
Also, guard rail repellent so that you don't take a corner too tight and bury your fender into a guard rail, bending a wheel and tweaking your axle, as my buddy did yesterday... |

Most any auto parts store will have the parts you need but i am not sure if all trailers us a universal size of bearings etc. I my extra hub when i all ready had one of mine taken apart so they could match up the parts. So i don't know how they would match without a dis- assebled hub. As for the grease, i prefer the white, as in the color, marine grease and this can sometimes be hard to find. Good luck and have a safe trip _________________ S. Stojak |
