I have alot of trouble landing anything I try. I seem to have trouble with slack rope or out running the boat on the landing and then getting slack, and also alot of trouble with turning everywhich way but the way I want to be in the air. Could anyone give me some tips on how to better control myself while in the air? Or maybe how to pull to the correct position before the landing?

keeping the handle close to your lead hip as you come down should help you control your body while in the air and help you land

i saw a guy ride exactly like youre describing the other day. his problem was simply that he wasnt riding within his limits so he was out of control all the time. i'm all about being ambitious and stuff but you still have to start small to progress. you may be riding more aggressively than you're ready for, toning it down and getting comfortable with smaller jumps and softer edging may be the way to go.

Look where you're going, and don't look down. If you're doing a heelside jump, cut in and look at the opposite shoreline.

I have a very solid, nice height, HS W2W, TS W2W, TS 180s, etc however I still have problems with that. It is probably part of the reason that I am bad on the HS180... It sounds so easy to do but habit is to look down to prepare for the impact of landing....

If you can start by looking to the shore, you won't have to break the bad habit. Habits are hard to break so concentrate on forming good habits. Trust me. Smile

I'm a newbie, but just worked thru this issue this year....

I believe the slack in the rope and the landing can be fixed by keeping your shoulders back behind or at least over the board on approach and takeoff.

I could edge like a madman, but the slight forward lean can caused the requirement to pull the rope a bit, this generated slack in the rope.

You cannot land properly if you do not have the rope to ride out on.

Someone above mentioned the 180 being an issue..... The problem of leaning against the rope is amplified when switch, as most of us newbies tend to stand more upright..... (Also explaining why a newbie toe side is so weak)

A buddy gave me the "leg straight" drill to work on this. You had to cut by leaning back, not cheating at all with a leg bend or butt-lunge. Hit a few leg locked jumps to feel how easy it is to go W2W and ride it out. Then add the other movements to give you whatever air you want....

my 2 cents.... I went from landing 10% to landing 95% in 2 trips out.

If you're leaning forward or getting slack when you go off the wake, you're flattening off and not edging through the wake. Generally you land in the same position you take off.
