I'm looking to upgrade the Sony Xplod system in my boat. I am planning on Boss 653's and want to be able to crank them while keeping the speakers in the boat at normal levels. Is this possible and how do I do it if so? Currently I have Sony remote 10 disc changer, 4 sony marine speakers, a 10" Sony Sub, 800w Sony xplod amp, and boss b-69s. What should I keep. What should I trash. And what should I get to get a kick ass stereo system. By the way- The B-653's list for 1,800 and I'm thinking maybe another 1,200 I can spend on top of that. _________________ Go Boat! |

| I would get a new amp for the 653 and get a pair of pac LC1s. THey are remote volume controls for amplifiers. I think the website is GO2pac.com. I am not sure though |

y ai was wondering the same thing, is there a way to be able to make the tower speakers and the boat speakers different volumes? or even just shut off the tower speakers all together without unhooking them. _________________ www.liquidforce.com |

| you can easily get the tower speakers on a cut off switch by simply wiring the remote lead to the amp through a switch, then simply toggle the tower speakers onn and off as you see fit. |

You can use the "gain" levels on each amp to adjust the volume levels. You just set it to the desired level once.....You probably shouldn't use it as a volume adjustment. Use the switch idea from skinatique1985....combined with your "gain" setting and you got it made! _________________ Riders Inc. |

| Man, if your gonna dump 3K in the stereo, I would suggest some subs as well, 1 10 and that much tower speaker wont be balanced, I would go get a pait of Phoenix Gold Titanuim 12"s and a tantrum 500.2 to push them, that plus a box would put you at about a grand, and that setup is what I run, and you can hear bass, mids & Highs at 70' when your riding. |

| Look into the pac converter. It is not really a volume control. I can't explain what it is, someone told me after I bought it. But when I hooked up the LC-1, it cut volume/power from eveything in that line. even the other speakers that were off the other split of RCA's.. |

rydog,
It controls the volume fo one amp...obvioulsly if you have other speakers running off the same amp it will lower thelevel of those also. |

Thanks guys,
Any other suggestions? I like the dual sub idea. I need a separate amp for that? Is there a single amp that can drive all the components? Also the gain control from Go Pac looks like the ticket. Sorry, I know I sound stereo impaired. I appreciate any advice. _________________ Go Boat! |

| actually no, I was running 2 seperate amps in two different lines of RCA's. and the LC-1 effected both lines. It didn't make sence to me either. |

Rydog,
what deck did you have and how many RCA preouts did it have???? I just wanna know because I bought this over the winter with the idea it would work with the front preout only. Is it possible you have the cables backwards( input for the output)...Otherwise this Product is crap...Maybe you will need two LC-1s.
I dont know, sorry for taking over the thread Ran MAN |

| No, I tried all different ways. The way the guy explained it, it sounded like I would need 2 of them, or just a totally different product. I am sorry I am not that much help, I seriously can't remember what the deal was. The way I have it configured right now, have two seperate rca's running to 2 seperate amps. one to the tower, and the other to the subs. The LC-1 is in line with the tower, but When I adjust the LC-1, the power to both amps is affected. I will try to get the story straight. I have a premier DEH-p7300 deck. it has 3 preouts i believe. Haven't messed with it for a while |

The PAC is nothing more than potentiameter that bleeds off gain to ground. Pots are bad in that they: (1) affect the upstream component (what RYDOG experienced; and (2) increase THD alot in the line. Very unclean to use as a volume control.
I use 2 pre-amps with that have 4 master volumes to control my system. The pre-amps will actually enhance your sound and decrease line noise.
If I recall correctly, RYDOG used a Y to split a single pair of RCAs from his head unit. First off, you do not want to use the rear channel RCAs anyway in a boat, because they are nothing more than ambient or rear fill sound. When split, the LC-1 will affect both amps even though the LC-1 is only on one side of the Y. This is because the LC-1 bleeds gain from the upstream component, or the head unit in this case. |
