When you ride switch, your opposite foot is forward, whether you are riding toeside or heelside. When you ride toeside, your toe edge is away from the boats direction of travel. When you ride heelside, your heel edge is away from the boats direction of travel. Make sense?

Normal riding for most people is left foot forward. Riding switch is right foot forward. It would be the opposite if you ride the majority of the time right foot forward.

Toeside is the edge of the board that you are traveling on. If you ride left foot forward and go outside the wake to the right side (starboard) you are riding on your toeside edge when you are cutting out.

that would be if you were riding with your right foot forward.

Its really no that complicated, just takes a little thinking.

If you put pressure on your heels (your toes are out of the water) and ride without getting slammed on to your back, you're riding heelside. If you put pressure on your toes with your heelside edge out of the water and similarly don't take a nasty faceplant, you are riding toeside. Pretty simple. HS and TS refer to the edge of the board that is in the water when you cut, no matter if you have your right foot or your left foot forward. TomOgorman, If you are riding toeside with your chest facing the boat, you are going to get hurt.
