Short answer - No

Long answer why -
The airator pumps wont actually pump air but once primed (all air removed) they do maintain a flow of water. The impellor used is made of hard plastic and simply flings the water axially presented to it to the perimiter of the casing. This water starts to swirl with the rotation of the impellor and exits the casing from a pipe optimally located on the perimiter. They are not capible of self priming either and require total submersion before they work at all.

If you reverse the motor, and put water in the perimiter or exit pipe, the same centrifical force opposes the required reverse direction of flow and the pump refuses to prime. Water refuses to pass.
