60-75 HP?

I guess anything that can run 17-25 mph.

Depends on your experience. We used to have a 14ft aluminum boat with a 25 HP and I got up behind that, you plow through water for a long time before it gets you up and each time you cut the whole boat slows down. All you can really do are surface tricks.

If your Question is what is the minimum you would want to ride behind it's really as simple as what can get you up and let you cut without an impact on the boat. I would say very loosely 15ft+ boat with 60HP+

me and my brother use to wakeboard behind a 14ft 9.9hp when i was 11yrs old
it wasn't that hard to get up it was just when you are carving the boat would tilt side to side and almost roll it.

you guys must have been pretty light then.

Yesterday i was behind my friends boat with 65hp. It got me up ok but there was no wake cuz it was just a small aluminum boat. So i practiced switch riding and got better.

Another thing to consider is how many people are in the boat. 120HP will pull up a rider no problem, add 4 people to the boat and you're gonna need some skills.

I learned it behind a 30 hp it took me one hour to get up but one you get use to it and pop out of the water by your self it is good for all kinds of surface tricks.

I have gotten up behind a 9.9 all you an do is surface tricks and if you cut out to hard the boat ether tips or the motor would cut out.

Weve got 190HP w/ 19 pitch prop.... Cant pull it off plane, but weve come close a couple of times. The wake becomes noticably wider when we cut hard early. I think I could ride off a lot less, but I think Im at the minimum where I dont have to be jonesing for anything more than what ive got, if you know what i mean... Its no wake boat, but its plenty for me and my friends and family.

Shocked Why not just strap the motor to your board? Laughing
