I put my last post in the wrong spot, sorry about that. I am in the market for a new board but am kind of lost as to what to buy. I am still riding an O'Brien Ambush from 2000 and the thing is a dinosaur. I am beginner to intermediate I guess and want to get a good board. Thinking a used one to help save on cost. I am 6'5" and 220lbs, any advice as to what to buy? Late.

DEMO, DEMO, and then DEMO

With your size I would try to get a larger board no smaller than 140. Also since you are fairly new I would suggest something with what is called a continous rocker. It will help with trying to get a good consistent pop off the wake. My first real board was a hyperlite Vero and I still love it today. I will never sell it. It is just a run of the mill tried and true form.

But you will know what you like when you ride it.

DEMO, DEMO, and then DEMO

Your board shop should let you do this if not find one that will.

Yeah, I kind of figured that on the size of the board. I have just moved to Chicago and don't have a boat yet, so when I get a chance to ride, it is usually on medium sized wakes. For that reason I was thinking a board with 3 stage rocker might be better for getting airs, or do I have it backwards? Also, any particular brand I should look for. I have been checking O'Briens because that is what I know. I am wanting a good board. I learn quick because I have snowboarded and skated since I was like 12.

I've been checking out the Obrien oasis and the Obrien science. Anyone ridden either of the two, or anyone know how the are supposed to be?

Same thing as hyperlite, under a different name... generally the lower end shapes though.

Construction wise, they're fine.

I would stick with hyperlite, liquid force, CWB, obrien, or gator boards.
