Firstly, I think you should be able to do a super smooth, fast kickturn before you try any 180 trick. Making sure that I had my kickturn down got me familiar with the motion of turning my body on my board.
I think its easy if you try to lead with your shoulder. I find when I skate if I think of things in terms of initiating a 180 with my upper body leading the way, the rest of my body just sort of follows.
Just practice tonz and be ready to fall on your tush a whole lot! |

I'm trying to learn them too but whenever I spin the board flies out behind me. I've got my switch and regular kickturns pretty solid and I can ollie pretty high but I can't spin. Any tips? |

Lead with your shoulders. The way I envisioned it that helped me was to just imagine how I would jump if I didn't have the board. You can jump pretty high, right? You should be able to ollie at least that high. So once you pop the tail just imagine you don't have the board & see if that improves your height. |

Hey!
It sounds like you might be leaning forwards a bit when you ollie, that can make you loose balance, or push your board out from under you . Try to stay centered over the top or your board and imagine your board almost being glued to your feet. If you stay on top of your board with practice you should get it in no time (as long as you're pulling the full rotation).

ok its only a 180 you dont have to wind up. just dont think of it as a spin, think of it as just switching your feet; cause well thats all it is. just ollie then switch your feet. _________________ we pillage we plunder we riffle we loot drink up me hardies yo ho! |

i reccomend learning em bs. i tried learnin em fs first because they are easier on the water but its not the same on cement. First do 90 degree ollies to get the feel of controlled spins not just tryin to huck the spin. then try rolling 180s i think they are easier rolling then stationary. I hope this helped i just got consistent with 180s |

what helped me was when my friend told me to lead with the shoulders, not your waist and feet _________________ Good Times

What Vikingsextreme107 said. With 180's, slower is better- you don't want to finish the spin until right before you land. Practice doing 90's to work on board control. You'll probably stop when you land on top, but you can either step off or do an Andrew Reynolds (see Baker2G). _________________ things aren't that simple... |
