I've been doing tantrums since the beginning of the summer and i always have the same problem...when i land my body's real low to the water and i can't land standing upright. i think i need more air but was wondering if anyone could help me. everytime i actually land one it's like the landing in the video and it's almost as embarassing as falling Embarassed

it looks like you need to attack the wake a lot faster, then as you approach the top of the wake you change to toeside facing your chest towards the shore, almost like putting the brakes on. then you should have enough pop/power then to take you over. at the moment it looks like your doing a regular cut for a w2w jump, a tantrum cut is different

FunkmaztafoX, your problem is height. The 2 things I notice are:

1. You are popping too early. Wait a little longer for the pop and you will get the height you need.

2. Extend off the wake. If you look at the last frame before you leave the wake, your knees are bent. They should be fully extended when you leave the wake.

Go in like you would a normal wake cut; knees bent on your approach and extend your legs as you are coming up the wake. And when you approach the top of the wake open up your shoulders to shore and lean back.

Thanks for all the help.

I will try to get a stronger cut into the wake to get me up and over.

Wakebrad, I will try to focus on standing tall at the wake and popping at the right time, thanks for the help.

i wasnt able to view the video cuz I am at work right now, but u might want to try to tuck the knees to the chest as you do the tantrum like you would do an indy tantrum and get the faster spin....then extend the legs as you come around.

okay i rode again yesterday and had my brother take some more sequence shots..the rotation i have doesn't look like a "true" tantrum, it looks sloppy, almost like an off-axis 3. it's as if when i cut the board back parallel with the boat it over-rotates almost throwing my into a whirly i guess. does anyone else think this is not the "true" tantrum? i mean i can land it and all but all of them look like that. what could be wrong if anything?

edit*: it looks like my rotation is fine it's just rotating around the wrong axis, instead of a vertical one, maybe one slightly tilted, like the earth or something?

in a tantrum, ur board and body needs to be squared off right before the wake. It looks like u are still facing a little bit heelside and that might be ur problem. If you are having troubles squaring off, try letting go of the rope right before the wake and square off and do ur trick, this might get u more familiar with the feel of getting in the correct position.
